We had the good fortune of connecting with Andres “cucu” Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andres “cucu”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Luckily the thought process was simple for me. I noticed there was an unattended necessity (musically speaking) within the hospitality Industry in Miami, and I was already curating playlists without even thinking about making it a business, so connecting that gap I noticed, with what I was doing genuinely, was a happy realization. Now, executing my idea was not that simple, I had to combine creativity, technology, a convincing proposal, contacts and time management to actually make it a reality.
I realized there was an opportunity I was able to fulfill and went for it without thinking about it too much.
Ear Candy was the first name that came to mind and here we are.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Music selection is key to set the tone, you can either ruin or enhance a moment. In our case, believing in our musical instinct has been crucial. When you make something truly for yourself, it turns out you are doing the best thing you possibly can for the audience. Of course we receive artistic directions and references, which we seriously take into consideration but, that’s only the starting point to then execute a project following our artistic gut.
Having a good balance between establishing a positive relationship with clients and offering an authentic and efficient service, is what sets us apart.
We are proud to work with brands, venues and teams that we feel identify with, and there is genuine connection that allows the workflow to happen in very organic way.
Luckily word of mouth has allowed us to get where we are today and clearly tons of professional work behind it to support what’s being said about what we do.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Love being a host in Miami, it’s in our hans to make this a beautiful place to live:

Tuesday: can’t miss The Wolf of Tacos pop up & Jazz night at The Corner
Wednesday: catch live music, great food and outstanding wine selection at Casa Mariano

Friday: happy hour at Biscayne Brewery and then catch live music at Zey Zey

Check Dantes and Miami Sound Bar any day between Tuesday and Sunday.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow, what a question, love it. Can we talk about it over some refreshments ? lol I can see this in two levels, on a personal level I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family who always supported me on my creative path after I decided to change my career, gracias viejos queridos.
On a creative level I have great references that helped shaping my project as a music curator. Shoutout
to remarkable compilations like Hotel Costes, Cafe del Mar, Pink Martini, Buddha Bar, Guts, Stephane Pompougnac, Putumayo, Mr. Bongo, Tigre Sounds, The Standard Hotel and of course all my friends who contributed to fill up my ipod (at the time) with music.
Also, a shoutout to my beloved Barcelona, living there was a true eye opener, in this case an ear opener experience, without me knowing this was where Ear Candy really was born. After being exposed to so much new music in different languages, cool concerts, festivals, musicians, stories and endless nights listening to music, I was destined to become a proper music enthusiast or let’s just say a “music head”.
A special shoutout to my creative partner Camila Di Marzo, as a professional Graphic Designer, DJ, music curator and brand consultant, she is the other half of Ear Candy and has helped me a lot branding wise, logistically and musically.
