We had the good fortune of connecting with Burgundee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Burgundee, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the band’s success comes from the authenticity of the music. For us, the music comes from a place of sincerity so it feels absolutely incredible when people tell us they really vibe and connect with these songs. At the end of the day, if we made you feel something that you can relate to then that’s one of the greatest successes we can ask for.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It definitely wasn’t easy to get to where we are right now. One struggle we each have is usually finding time to meet up due to each one of us being musicians with our own responsibilities and work outside of the group. It gets tough at times, but we’re able to be efficient with the time we have at rehearsals. One important lesson that we’ve learned is that through patience, persistence, and practice, our collective voices shine brightly through the music. When you attend one of our live shows or listen to our music on any streaming platform, you’re getting this combination of artistic elements that’s been fine-tuned to create something authentic. It’s something that lingers with you. Plus, it feels nice when someone comes up after a show or messages us on social media to express their feelings about the music. It lets us know we’re on the right track.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would visit some of my favorite restaurants in both Miami and Broward. For Miami: Palacio De Los Jugos, La Camaronera, Flanigan’s, Roasters and Toasters by Dadeland, 1-800 Lucky and Shibui. For Broward: Shinju, Koume, Al Natour, Flanigan’s (again), and Grand Lux Cafe. Next, we would go explore Wynwood checking out the murals on the walls and the little art exhibits on each corner then driving down towards South Beach and catch the sunset. Next, we would check out some cool venues like Lagniappe, Jada Coles, All That Jazz, Arts Garage, WDNA, Books and Books, & Las Rosas. Lastly, we’d check out the Center for Subtropical Affairs, Peacock Park in Coconut Groove, and the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Boca.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, a place we should definitely recognize would be the F.I.U. School of Music program since we all met there and it’s where the group started. For each of us, we each have our own individual mentors that helped us shape our instruments and voices each day while we were attending school. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are in our lives. Lastly, we want to thank all our friends, family, and fans for all the love and support they’ve given us! It’s been an incredible journey so far and we’re excited to see what the future holds.
