We had the good fortune of connecting with Andy Bertrand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andy, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Raised in a single parent household in Orlando, FL, my mom worked day and night to give me a private school education. As a kid, out of my group of friends, I was always the one with less and because of that, I wake up every morning with a fiery craving to succeed. My mom showed me that an impeccable work ethic can coexist with, not just personal success but also success for others. As a result of these experiences throughout my early life, I molded myself into the candidate that I am today.

Entering College I knew I needed to develop a skill set that separates me from the rest. I had an uncle who was an engineer who advised engineering as the best bang for your buck in a 4 year degree so I started down that path… I also knew I wanted to be a business owner and i needed to get good at a specific craft in order to provide specific services for society so i had a “whatever it takes” attitude to get through the calculus and physics courses. Finishing college, I realized I needed to fast forward and accelerate my path to success. I got some valuable work experience while in school with the help of a few internships. I have gained valuable experience from the mentors i’ve worked under like Joel Middlebrooks P.E, Farrukh Sayeed P,E, Bruce Royal P.E and Hank Wilson. I’ve held positions that have helped me discover and develop a certain skill set that contributes to my value in any team

Skills like:

– being team player and believe in responsibility.
– Having focused ideas and I’m not afraid to execute them!
– Having the charisma and organizational skills to lead a team of individuals to success.
– I like to keep things simple and focus on making difficult things simpler
– I ostracize insignificant issues and chase the real fires
– I have a hunger to succeed and a never give up attitude.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would first get out to the local pier for a little fishing. Followed by taking the Brightline out to downtown west palm for dinner at Lynoras.. Catch the Heat or Panthers game at 123 Datura in Downtown West Palm or American social in Boca.
