We had the good fortune of connecting with Andy Fortuna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Using all of the knowledge and experiences I have collected in the fields of bodywork, sports medicine, and oriental medicine I wanted to create an interactive experience that would help clients address pain and injury while improving their overall performance. To me, the most powerful tools we have is our humanly touch and a caring and passionate heart. I am grateful to use my skills as a practitioner and coach to be able to give people a brand new light on their potential as a human being while optimizing movement.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed massage therapist, Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, and strength movement coach. I combine all the elements from these disciplines to help people move and feel better. The combination of mindfulness, bodywork, and movement programming are the elements that I love to use on a daily basis with people I work with. My company, Myorenew, is a health and performance studio where you come to learn and discover what you are truly capable of without the limitation of pain or injury. It’s about working on yourself as whole, both mentally and physically. The fact that I have been able to positively impact so many people to live better lives is what I most proud of. I honestly can’t believe it’s my “job”. Im grateful to wake up early every day and do what I do and to build a brand like MyoRenew, that represents that.

I started by hauling a massage table to all the local gyms and working with as many people as I could. Often for free. Flash forward 7 years and I now have my own office and teach health and performance workshops at these gyms and facilities. There has been many challenges and difficult moments. As an entrepreneur, you face hardship every day to move your business forward. What makes it worthwhile is the fact that you get to do what you are absolutely passionate about every waking moment. The struggle is just part of the package to be doing what I consider my dream “job.”

The biggest lesson I have learned is to trust myself and do my best with what I have. The work I put in each session with each person along with each class or workshop I teach drives me to do better each day. I have accomplished a lot so far , both as an owner and practitioner, but I have so much more to give. For that, I am extremely grateful

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Train at a local park, lunch at LA SANDWICHERIE , Enjoy the water at South pointe beach, and sushi for dinner at Bangkok City Thai & Sushi

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have had a lot of positive example, mentors, and definitely support through out my career. My biggest support system has been my wife, Ana, and my family who has given me the confidence and support to chase my dream of owning my own business and serving my community. Another shout out goes to Bfit Training Studios who gave me the opportunity early on to join their community and share my knowledge and skills.
