Meet Angel Parra | Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Parra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
When it comes to life itself, discipline, time management, and consistency are keys to achieving anything a person wants. I had to learn the hard way. I didn’t always have that mental fortitude; once I tried something and it didn’t work out the way I expected, my first instinct was to stop trying. I realized that if I wanted to do something in life that everyone I care about could be proud of, I needed to work with them to make a difference in the community. Although it wasn’t easy, my first step was time management. I had to learn how to use my time wisely, divided between school and my photography business as well as my personal life. At first, it was overwhelming, but I realized that scheduling my days can make life so much easier. From there on came the other two, which were maintaining discipline to break that and become better at it as well as being consistent, especially when it came to finding ways to promote my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a photographer and a digital artist, I transform what a person will consider simple with no story behind it into something people love to look at and learn what the story is behind it. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and that’s what my goal is every time I click that shutter button. What sets me apart from others is how I view things; I have an eye for seeing things in a whole different, creative way than someone else can and bringing them to life. No matter if it’s a portrait, street photography, wedding, or even landscape, I can find a way to create something great out of it. What excites me the most is the prospect of continuing to improve and develop my skills, because no matter how good or talented I am, I can always improve. My journey to where I am today did not begin with taking pictures with a smartphone, and regardless of what editing was, getting to a professional level took a lot of reps, thousands of pictures taken, and thousands of hours of YouTube research. I’m self-taught; everything I know was learned through practice and research. A lesson that I learned along the way is that consistency and willingness to do something can take a person to where they want to be in life, no matter who doesn’t believe in you. As long as you’re willing to get up, get better, and do something, you will get positive results. I want people to know that anything is achievable, no matter the struggles and challenges, and to have something to show how hard they have worked and to inspire others because that’s what my brand is about: inspiring others and the willingness to wake up every day and do something to be proud of and make those who love you proud as well.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For a weeklong vacation in the south Florida area, there is nothing better than to first take them to Wynwood, FL. Where the best art is on display, from amazing graffiti art to diverse cultures and great food, While in there, we will tour the walls and show them around, then go to Coyo Tacos, where they have some amazing tacos as well as burritos and quesadillas. The next day, we’d go to Bayside to walk around the shops and see the animals and entertainment, then eat at the Hard Rock Restaurant, and finish with a boat ride around the mansion tours and see the sunset and beauty of the fuel city of Miami from the sea. The next day, we can go to South Beach and enjoy a day in the sun and the beautiful Florida beaches, followed by some delicious food from Yard House, which serves some of the best salmon in the area. Next, we have the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which is located in Hollywood, Florida. where they can have some food in the casino, then make our way over to the club where they can have some drinks, dance, and enjoy themselves. And to end it all, what could be better than ending it with a bang in central Florida at the University with all the amazing amusement areas as well as entertainment and great food?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my journey, the main people who deserve recognition in my story are my parents and siblings, my amazing girlfriend who has always been there for me, and my closest friends. Each one of these people has had a positive impact on my life and business, and I’m thankful for the push and motivation, especially when I didn’t think that I could have accomplished it.
