We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel R Lopez CPA, MBA, ESQ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel R, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Controlling risk is the toughest aspect of starting a business, which in my case was the opening of a CPA/Attorney office for Tax, Business and Estates advisory. In that process, one often rehearses the different scenarios of “what if”, with all the things that can go right, and those that may not, and all possible contingencies. At the end, a decision is made to leave the comfort of a 9-5 job and embark on this amazing self-employment journey, where, as an advisor, I get the chance to add value to others in a somewhat similar journey.
What should our readers know about your business?
My favorite saying is quote is “Wharever your hand findeth to do, do it with all your might”, meaning that all things I do, need to be done with purpose and best effort, not half-harted, not mediocre but with “all might”, and excellence. This framework permeates all office work.
We take pride in having been a key resource and reliable partner in many business success stories.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a best friend visits, most likely means interests are similar. I love history and enjoy understanding how the different cultures were formed. As a Puerto Rican, the weekend would include discussions related to the origins of Latin Antilles culture and visits to Caguana, the Taino ceremonial park, Loiza, for African heritage, poetry, dances and music and El Morro and old San Juan, for Spanish legacy. The food would complete the experience with typical Puerto Rican cuisine. Love the restaurant at Haciendas Carabali in Rio Grande, PR.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife Ligia.
