Meet Angela Manrique | Owner & Director of Dance Box Miami and His Creative Movement Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Manrique and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I was little, I felt this calling from God to share the gift of dance. It wasn’t just a hobby, it was purpose. And in starting my studio, I wanted to honor that purpose by creating a place where others could find joy, connection, and maybe even their own calling through dance, I wanted to create a space where the Holy Spirit had the freedom to dance with us and among us. A space where praise and worship was constant.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Dance has always been a part of my life. From the moment I can remember, I’ve been moving my feet to music. At the age of 7, I stepped into church for the first time and everything changed. My passion for dance turned into more than just a fun activity to do at home. I stepped into the world of Worship/Praise dance. From that moment on, for the next 15+ years, I devoted my life to learning the art of Liturgical dance. At the same time, my passion to learn dance technique didn’t stop. I took dance classes wherever I could, enrolled into a dance studio to join their competitive team, and finished it off with a Dance Major degree.

The combination of all these events brought me where I am today. Having the foundation of dance technique and the knowledge/experience from years of worship dance, it birthed out what is my studio, Dance Box Miami. It was founded on the vision that God showed me in 2018. There’s no place like DBM in Miami.

God wants to bring The Arts back to bring Him glory. That’s where we come in. It has been a beautiful adventure to know that we’re making a difference. That when people walk into the studio, they automatically feel a sense of peace. Parents come to us knowing and trusting their kids are in good hands and in a place full of prayers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A quick shout out to the people who have spoken life into me. You know who you are. Wouldn’t have made it this far without your support, your wise counsel, and most importantly, your prayers.
