We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Codner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I didn’t know I was going to start a business. There was no blue print of what I’m going to do or how I’m going about it. It just happened. After losing my job due to racial discrimination, I found a hobby in making lipgloss that later turned into an online beauty store.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Angelic Cosmetic is a limited liability corporation that was established in April 2020. We started out December 2019 after being released from my job due to racial discrimination. Let’s say, God used my pain to birth forth purpose. Angelic Cosmetic is an online beauty store. We specializes in vegan, gluten and cruelty free products. Each products are specially created with love such as body care, skincare, lip care, hair care , makeup and home care.

I am very proud of where Angelic Cosmetic is coming from. I started this business with lipgloss which later expanded to skincare. Within six months of business we were expanded to hair care and body care. One year later and we recently launched our makeup line. It was not easy getting here.

A lot of tears, sleepless nights and doubts but what kept me going is knowing that I did not come up with these recipes and ideas on my own. If God trusted me with this then it must work. Angelic Cosmetic have impacted lives throughout the United States of America, Jamaica, France and Japan!

One major lesson I’ve learned that there is no such thing as an overnight success so stop beating yourself up based on where you are in business.

Some people are lucky to have overnight success but I don’t believe in that. I believe every business owner will experience some type of loss before they become successful! I view my “losses” as lessons. It doesn’t make you a failure; it simply means pay less attention to this. I remember in the beginning of my business I did a lot of poll hoping to provide new products to my customers. This was ISSA FAIL! They will do the polls alright but items weren’t moving fast enough or barely even moving. Now, I’m left with these products and items for months. Now, I pay less attention to polls. Not that I don’t care for my customers but it’s not effective method to expand your business. Polls should be used to catch the attention of your followers to engage with your page not to bring new products to your business. This is something you have to decide on your own. I’ve wasted a lot of money and supplies doing this. I didn’t fail; I learned! Trust the vision and move on your own pace! Wanting the customers are good but letting the customers need you is better! You will never go out of business.⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my Best friend is in town we are having the best week of our lives! Let’s start off with the mall first then to a seafood broil. I think the best Seafood broil I’ve been to in Pennsylvania is Red Crab. You can’t go wrong with a good seafood broil. Also, I would take her to New York City. Nothing like experiencing the city life. We will visit Brooklyn bridge, a ferry tour of state liberty, the Bronx zoo and Hershey Park. There is just so much to do. These are a few things.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to thank God who is the head of my life and the one who have given me grace in starting a business. Shout out to my family and friends for their constant support and to the Angelic Cosmetic baddies. I appreciate every one of you for supporting a dream! A dream of breaking cycles and generational curses.
