We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Duran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelica, what makes you happy? Why?
Being able to do what I love everyday makes me happy. I love the fact that my career allows me to help people find their dream home. I graduated from Barry University with a social work degree; when I started my studies, my goal was to find a career where I could help people. There is a special feeling that comes with helping people that is so rewarding. I entered the world of Real Estate and realized how happy it made me. Needless, to say that my Social work knowledge and experience has really helped me with my clients, because Real Estate is more than just a transaction. There are so many emotions and feelings that come with finding a new home and understanding the clients needs and vision plays a big roll. It’s such a blessing to see the smiles of my clients when I find them a home. Being able to be part of the home buying process or even the rental process is such a pleasure because I know how important it is to have a home. Learning about new projects, and buildings is so inspiring because you really get to see the city grow and expand. I’ve lived in Miami for 6 years now and being able to see what it has turned to be has been mind blowing. Miami has grown so fast in the last few years and I am so excited to see it where it’s heading.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a full-time real estate agent. There are many things that set me apart from others, first one being knowledgeable about the market and staying current. Knowledge is key in Real Estate, every detail is crucial. I would say the next one is being responsive, being an agent is like a 24-7 job that does not stop. Clients are always seeking an answer, no matter what day or time it is. Next is being efficient in Real Estate; being efficient has helped my real estate business grow. Real Estate excites me so much, because I really enjoy the relationships I get to make along the way. Relationships created with my clients while assisting them in their purchase and with other real estate professionals involved. Being at where I am today, was not easy it took time but every minute was worth it. My mind is always focused on Real Estate and when you dedicate time to what you love it really becomes your daily motivation. There are days that felt harder than others but each day pushed me closer to the purpose. I learned to never give up, success does not happen overnight. Everyday is a new experience just with new lessons. I want the world to know that life is about living and finding your purpose and what you love to do. Take the time to listen to yourself and learn more about yourself and you’ll enjoy all the days of work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best-friend was coming to visit the first place would be the beach. I would take her to the beach for yoga, to hear the ocean and journal . I would then head to Standard to eat lunch and watch the bay views. Design District would be the next stop to do some self care AKA shopping. One of the most exciting places for me is Midtown, Brickell, and Coconut grove. I love to people watch and those places are definitely people-watching places. For a night out I would head to Wynwood, and Eleven for a good time.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person that deserves recognition in my story is my mother. My mother has been such a role model, she is the most hard-working woman I know. The availability to balance life and work has been super inspirational. Everything I know, is because of my mom, personally and professionally . I always admired how my mom lived life. She taught me the importance of being independent and live life with a purpose.
