Meet Angeline Myers | Auntie Angeline | Artist and Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angeline Myers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angeline, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The business actually began unintentionally. I originally wrote my book as a passion project—something personal and therapeutic for me. It wasn’t meant to become a business at first. But as I shared parts of it, word started to spread. People connected with it and began asking for their own copies. That organic interest made me realize there was a real demand, and it inspired me to take the next step. What started as a healing process for myself turned into something that could impact and support others—and that’s what motivated me to turn it into a business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In all honesty, I had never even picked up a paintbrush before starting this journey. The fact that I taught myself how to paint and illustrate my own book still amazes me to this day. What started as a therapeutic, creative outlet turned into something much bigger than I ever imagined.
I use a mix of watercolor and digital art to bring my stories to life. One thing that sets my work apart is how it’s not just about the book—it’s an experience. Alongside the book, I created matching Mommy and Me outfits and free printable activities, so families can connect, create, and spend meaningful time together.
The road hasn’t been easy. There were many moments of self-doubt and learning curves, especially teaching myself how to paint and navigate the publishing world. But what kept me going was my purpose—I wanted to create something that made people feel seen, loved, and inspired.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you don’t have to be “qualified” in the traditional sense to start something meaningful. Passion, perseverance, and a willingness to learn can take you farther than you ever imagined.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that it was built from the heart. It’s not just art—it’s a message of hope, creativity, and connection. If my story inspires someone else to start before they feel ready, then I know I’m doing something right.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the best of what this area has to offer—beautiful beaches, amazing restaurants, local shops, and inspiring art galleries.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely—I have so many people and communities to thank for where I am today. First and foremost, I want to give a huge shoutout to Journey Church. It was actually during a Bible study there that the idea for my book first came to me. That space of reflection, encouragement, and faith truly planted the seed.
I also want to thank my family, who supported me from the very beginning. They saw my vision before it was even clear to me, and they went out of their way to get me the paint supplies I needed to bring my ideas to life. That kind of support means everything.
A big thank you as well to my art teacher, Colleen Thompson, for always believing in me and helping me grow creatively. And lastly, a special shoutout to all the kids who inspire me every day—they’re the reason I keep writing and dreaming bigger.
