We had the good fortune of connecting with Angiebeth Avendano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angiebeth, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Born in Miami but raised in Venezuela, I’ve had the unique privilege of experiencing two vibrant cultures that have influenced my perspective and approach to design. Growing up in Venezuela, I was immersed in the warmth and richness of Latin American culture, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for bold colors, textures, and functional and timeless design. Using materials that last for decades.

As an architect from Universidad Simon Bolivar, I was trained to incorporate these elements into my work, and I’ve found that this approach brings a fresh and exciting perspective to Miami’s design scene. My Latin roots inspire me to infuse my projects with a sense of warmth, energy, and community, which resonates with Miami’s diverse and thriving cultural landscape. Having an architectural background has been a key in all my interior design projects, so for me it is not only the aesthetics, but function is the main element in my designs.

My bicultural background has taught me to embrace the beauty of fusion and blend seemingly disparate elements to create something truly unique and captivating. This blend of Miami’s modernity and Venezuela’s vibrancy is reflected in my design philosophy, which seeks to create spaces that are not only functional but also tell a story and evoke an emotional response. I’m proud to bring a piece of my heritage to every project I take on, and I believe that this cultural fusion is what makes my designs truly special.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After working on a very important design firm in Miami and being the head of the department, I decided to start my own firm. The process has been fascinating, with its ups and downs. You start learning new things, that aren’t really what you love the most. Designers are creatives, not usually love numbers and the administrative part of the business, so i will say that is the most challeging part of it, but exited as well.

I want that the word knows, that you can always change your path, take new decisions, start learning new things. Life is so existing and you should never lose curiosity and be eager to go to new places and know new things. I think that we all should be able to share our stories and be confortable in our own space, feel like we are leaving in vacation, while we are working.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I will definitely take them to the beach, one of my favorite spots is “El farito”. I was born in Miami, and raised in a beach town in Venezuela, so i am all about recharging in the ocean and sand.

After that I will take them to eat, Miami is the best place to know about cultures while eating. You get to talk with servers from all around the world, eat the best dishes, and see the nicest design in the restautants.

I will look for a local music festival to end up the day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have gad the privilege of being influenced and inspired by various individuals who have shaped my approach to architecture and design.

My past colleagues have been key in my own personal journey. Each of them had help me mold my own personal style and view of life.
My clients, who have trusted me and allowed me to bring their unique stories to life.
My family and friends, that have been a support in every step of the way.
