We had the good fortune of connecting with Annette Mesa Acosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annette, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My background is a preschool teacher. I also workes in children’s ministry. I love teaching children and its so rewarding to see them learn. I never thought that I could work in a weight loss and hormone balancing clinic. When I was a kid I was told that all I could do is minimal work. Have a 9-5 job and get paid a salary. My way of learning is visual learning and doing one thing at a time. I get flustered when I have too many things to do that I try to do them all at the same time and everything comes crashing down. I have learned to make myself lists and tackle them one at a time. I thrive in making goals and try to complete them. The reason I am telling you all of this is because I took a risk on a job that society told me that I could never do. I took the risk of making my own hours and working hard to make my money.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a freelance salesperson. I am proud that I was able to step out of my comfort zone. If you know me you know that is the hardest thing for me to do and give this business a try. You never know where you can go unless you take a leap of faith and see how far you can go. Like I mentioned before I used to work in a children’s ministry and when I got married I left the ministry and became a housewife. My husband its the person that introduced me to sales the right way. He took the time to teach me and helped me how to talk to people. No, it was not easy to learn something new but if you want to grow you need to take the risk. I overcame the challenges by asking questions, taking everything one step at a time, and not being afraid to fail. which is the hardest thing you can do because in reality who wants to fail? Failing can be the best teacher on what not to do. Once you fail you get up and try again. I want people to know that if you put your mind into something and you believe in it keep pushing through it. Nothing that is worth working for is easy but when you take time and you see the challenges you have overcome it makes it all worthwhile.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
my family and I have a summer home in the keys. This house was a dream come true for us as we visit the keys often and love being there. We disconnect from the world and enjoy the time we spend there. Honestly its out little piece of heaven. We also love to fish and enjoy it for dinner when we get a great catch. If my friend was visiting me I will take them there. Have them come fishing with us and cook a great meal as we reflect on how much fun we had at sea. My family and I also love to go to cruises as well we have visited all the virgin islands so I might take them along with us

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been some people in my life that have challenged me and help me become someone that can use her influence to make a difference in whatever you do. My family means the world to me and they are the ones that motivate me in many different ways. My dad taught me you can do anything but whatever you do always do your best. My mom taught me that no matter what background of education you always rise and be what you want. My inlaws have cheered me on and help me to keep pushing. telling me that I can do anything all have to do is try. My husband believes in me when I wanted to take this leap of faith knowing the risk and cheers me on when I want to give up.
