We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Azcuy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, how do you think about risk?
In my mind, nothing worth while will come without risks. Some of the greatest risks I’ve taken have rewarded me the most. For example, at one point I was working a hard labor construction job full time. After a few years of studying the markets, I started investing the majority of my weekly paychecks into the stock market. Surprisingly I made large returns and was able to reinvest profits into starting my current business. I’ve also taken big risks and failed miserably. Taking risks can be scary but in times of fear or challenge, I’ve noticed that I grow and learn the most. Regardless of the outcome I find peace in knowing that I’ll be better off in someway for have accepting the challenge.

What should our readers know about your business?
Today I currently own and operate Haul Away Junk Removal & Demolition. I started this business from the ground up. First I reinvested profits from the stock market into buying the proper tools for the business and creating a strong online presence. I built our website from scratch and made sure it was up to par with the competition. I’m very proud of the reputation the company has built in such a short amount of time. We always maintain a friendly positive attitude towards customers no matter the situation. Sounds simple but here in Miami, great customer service is not typical so we stand out. While building this business, every step of the way I’ve encountered obstacle after obstacle. It’s very important to keep a cool head and understand that with every challenge there is opportunity for growth. Building a business has taught me to be persistent, every problem I encounter has a solution it’s just a matter of not quitting when things get difficult. I started my first business at 10 years old, walking the neighborhood dogs for a dollar. Currently I’m 25 years old with a few business ventures under my belt. Most have failed, but each rep has made me stronger and more capable to succeed in future endeavors. Haul Away Junk Removal & Demolition is the product of meticulous planning and having the courage to take a risk. We are almost a year in and already broke 6 figures in revenue with good profit margins. We will continue to do great business for our customers and maintain a top tier reputation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First place that comes to mind is the Fl Keys. We’d probably head out of Islamorada on boat and head towards the reefs for some fishing. Later I’d check out the Islamorada sandbar to cool down and enjoy the scenery. After a long day on the water I’d make a stop at The Big Chill. It’s a beautiful oceanfront restaurant where you can enjoy the sunset with some delicious fresh fish and live music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without the support from my friends and family. My girlfriend has been there for me during the hardest moments and never stopped believing in me, for that I’m forever grateful. My parents have always pushed me to chase whatever dreams I had and supported me in whatever way they could. My brothers and sisters have been a huge help to my business, helping me out on a jobs when I’m short handed and doing a great job representing the brand. My friends are just as ambitious as I am and that’s played a big part in never being stagnant and falling behind. I’d also like to give credit to philosophy. Life is full of ups and downs and stoicism has helped to keep me calm and focused through it all. I’m extremely grateful for my circle and wouldn’t change it for anything.
