We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up in Miami, of course fashion has always been a part of my life. Moving to more rural parts of the country has actually intesified that. My clothing and shoe choices are a huge way that I express myself. I started wearing the number three on my jersey in college, from there it became a sort of lucky number. Although I don’t really belive in luck. I believe in hard work, dedication, and faith. It all stems back to the father, son, and holy spirit the great 3 in 1.

3Ls was born from friendships becoming like family. Making my home so far from Miami, I developed a few great friends that have become like brothers to me. George Lane was one of those people. He always pushed me to be the best version of myself. When he was diagnosed with colon cancer 3Ls came to life. We all wanted to encourgage him in the fight but also live every moment of every day to the fullest, never knowing what tomorrow might bring.

I had the idea of 3Ls for a while but George’s diagnosis and then passing, lit a fire in me to actually make it happen. Today 3Ls is certainly a brand that I’m working hard to grow. More importantly it is a way of life that I hope we all strive for.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After high school I went to Idaho State University and then graduated from Chadron State College in NE. The transition from culturally diverse Miami to the Midwest was not an easy one. Being the only brown person in the room has taught me so much about who I am, where I came from, and who I want to be, as well as the values I want to instill in my children.

After college I played football professionally for 9 years before FINALLY (her words) settling down with my LONG TIME (again her words) girlfriend. Now wife of 13 years.

Before 3Ls I worked as the director of an academy for at risk youth. I found great fulfillment in helping these young people overcome some of the obstacles life had thrown at them, using my life experiences growing up on the streets of Little Haiti. The students connected more to me when they knew I too had been through many of the same things as a troubled but worthy youth.

The acadamy closed it’s doors in 2021 giving me the perfect opportunity to be come the CEO of my life. Putting more time, effort, and energy into 3Ls.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you were going to visit the Wyoming/Montana area here are the things you would not want to miss. We are just a couple hours from Yellowstone National Park so don’t miss that before you go. The number one time to visit Sheridan is during Rodeo week. The whole town basicaly shuts down for 4 days of Rodeo festivities; parade, boot kick off, carnival, street dance, ect. You’ll fly in on a plane that holds 30ish people, (trust me that is an upgrade, when I first moved here it was only like 12 people and you couldn’t stand up). Once here you’ll want to be sure to eat at the Pony and have drinks at the Mint Bar, dinner at Rib and Chop. You could also golf at the nationally ranked Powder Horn Golf Club (that’s were I got married) my wife can take you she does not have the patience for my slice. Lastly, check out a Sunday afternoon Polo match. (many riders summer here and winter in FL)

However, if you want to shop or eat late you best do that before you come. I’ll never get used to the fact that this town I call home closes up by about 10pm (except for some bars) I find myself traveling often to fill the void of city life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my family both my Miami family and my Wyoming family. Without their support none of this would be possible. And of course BigVictories.
