We had the good fortune of connecting with Antonio Khoury and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antonio, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The word “risk” has historically been associated with a negative connotation in most contexts, whether in a personal or professional scenario. At a very early age, I had the opportunity to personally define what “risk” meant to me, which allowed me to always view it in a subjective manner. When I look back at my personal and career growth, I’ve always concluded that my subjective approach to “risk” played an essential role in defining my success today. Without risk, or “calculative risk” as many would like to say, I believe a person’s evolution is very limited in every aspect of their lives. At 19 as a sophmore in college at Suffolk University in Boston, I accepted the opportunity to commence my real estate career while being a full time entrepreneurship major. Many close confidants, including my parents, strongly disagreed with my decision. At a young and naive age, i fought a constant battle within me and my surroundings on whether I’m investing my time efficiently. I accepted the challenge and took on a calculative risk which a decade later has proved to myself, my family and friends that the so called risk back then was only the beginning to a longterm successful career which has shaped my persona and lifestyle. Today, my risk tolerance has been elevated and what used to be defined as “risk” 10 years ago is just another task in my day to day. Risk to me is an antonym to comfort. Risk is the main incentive behind every revolutionary that dares to defy the status quo or their supposed reality. When one becomes comfortable with their situation, they are not incentivized to elevate themselves and the people around them.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At 29, I’m proud to be a Managing Director of Compass, a company that not too long ago was considered a start-up yet today is proudly serving our clients across the nation and employs over 25,000 employees and agents. I’ve personally been able to leverage my position in Compass and have established strong presence in Miami, Boston, NY and the Caribbean.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami caters to anybody and everybody. You will usually find me at Komodo having a drink with friends and clients and anywhere within Miami Beach on a given weekend when I’m in town

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe one is shaped by their surroundings, everyone in one’s life plays an essential role in one’s growth!
