Meet Aprile Serry | Marketing Strategist and Personal Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aprile Serry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aprile, how do you think about risk?
My ability to take risks has developed over time. Life is short. I would rather make an attempt to pursue my goals than not take any action at all. As I have continued to take risks, I view failure quite differently. More often than not, it has provided me with an opportunity to learn more about myself and grow.

In 2020, I planned to launch my personal styling venture. When the pandemic occurred it significantly impacted the way I intended to roll out my services. I decided to re-evaluate my priorities and I began writing for my blog more consistently. During this time, I honed my craft and obtained my styling certification. If things had gone the way I initially envisioned, I may have missed out on these opportunities.  It also gave me time for reflection.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Sleek Wardrobe is an upscale personal styling venture as well as lifestyle blog. My eye for style and love for adventure has greatly influenced the concept for my business. I travel frequently and I have learned how to pack more efficiently without sacrificing my style. My goal is to help my clients to be more intentional about their clothing choices and to extend the life of their wardrobes in creative ways. I am also a huge fan of vintage and love to mix pre-loved gems with classic silhouettes and modern pieces.

Bringing The Sleek Wardrobe to life was not an easy process. Along the way I learned how to become more comfortable with being uncomfortable and how to navigate uncertainty by listening to my intuition.

I highly value the importance of giving back to the community. Ten percent of the proceeds from the purchase of my services will be donated to Dress for Success Worldwide.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love entertaining! My family and friends often ask for my advice about activities they can do when they travel to different places. If my best friend came to visit me in Miami for a week, I would suggest they stay in one for the chicest spots in Brickell, Novotel.

Daytime festivities would include brunching at Limonada and Little Hen Kitchen, enjoying a day party at Nikki Beach, or checking out the Perimeters exhibit at The Bass Museum. We would take swoon-worthy pictures for social media while exploring The Design District and having lunch at Dior Cafe.

At night we would sip signature cocktails at Sugar and enjoy dinner at hot spots such as The Setai, Sexy Fish, and Balan’s. We would dance the night away at Oasis in Wynwood and listen to the latest sounds while skating at Basement.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Many people have inspired me over the years. I especially want to recognize my parents and first role models, Henry and Thelma Serry. They taught me the importance of developing and maintaining a strong work ethic. My parents also played an instrumental role in expanding my horizons by exposing me to different cultures and places around the world. They have also been very supportive of my aspirations.
