We had the good fortune of connecting with Araceli Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Araceli, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was trained as a visual artist and had been observing for a long time that art was taking new forms. Urban art was beginning to take hold at that time. We artists were looking for a way to take art out of the four walls and show it to the world. Under this reflection the brand was born. I started to visualize a bag as a sculptural work and to be able to paint it using its volume. Little by little this idea began to make more and more sense.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I knew I wanted to make art since I was very young. Creating is inseparable from my person. The difficult thing is not to bet on this profession, the difficult thing is to walk this path with enough patience, perseverance and illusion to get the results of what has been sown. Creation is wonderful, once you try to create, there is no feeling that has to do with it. It allows you to see the world in a conscious way and to enter precious places of plenitude.
Once you know that your work has quality, the difficulty has more to do with other factors such as economics, social trends. In my case, I have always been interested in innovating. I have asked myself many questions throughout my life and I have tried to find out what the world had to offer. What I am most proud of is always believing in what I have done, being able to visualize good ideas even though the world needs time to accept them. Only when you look back can you see that the steps taken made sense.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Granada is a city full of history and art in its streets. If I had to recommend magical places in the city, it would be a walk through the Albaycín, getting lost in its streets and reaching the highest point to see the city in the distance. I would eat tapas in Plaza Larga. I would have chocolate with churros at the Gran Café Bib-Rambla to finish the day in the Sacromonte caves to listen to a flamenco show.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Support has always come from two places. The first is my family. The road requires a lot of effort so the love, the encouragement of the family is a pillar. The way they believe in what you do is precious. The second support is the brands and artists that are like you and that you meet along the way. With whom you are collaborating and growing. I would mention Avasan, Fierro Madrid, Susana Álvarez, Dsnú.
They are brands with whom I have collaborated and nurtured.
