We had the good fortune of connecting with Ari Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ari, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Trusting myself. I grew up always having a safety net and while I still do, I made it my goal to not rely on it. I found that I wasn’t using my discernment which left me in a position to always depend on someone and it terrified me.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As a creative, I spend a ton of time in my zone creating my definition of beautiful visuals. Creating is easy but the hard part is sharing this craft with the world because it is so different. I present my content to the world in a way most would see as a “doing too much” but it’s the reality of who I am. Excitement is an understatement, whenever I think about my journey and where I’m headed. I’ve taken so much time and effort honing my craft even when it seemed pointless. Consistency is what’s allowed me to overcome any challenges; while also knowing that the way I was made to create was never a mistake. Learning to zone in and hone my craft instead of someone else’s is my biggest lesson to date.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beach! I am a water girl through and through. The beach has the best views, food and vibes. We’d definitely visit a wine tasting then watch the sunset. I love to take a moment from each day to just admire God’s work.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My foundation which consists of my grandmother & godparents. They shaped me into who I am and I cannot be more grateful.
