We had the good fortune of connecting with Aroon Duncanson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am so incredibly proud of Plastics Media and where we are today. It was not an easy journey by any means, but seeing where we are now has made it all worth it! A major part of building up a successful company is being able to take major risks head on, from leaving a steady job with barely enough to pay my car bill, to hiring full time staff and taking on more expenses. Every stage of growth is a risk, but I feel so much more confident in myself and my business that taking risk gets easier each time.

One thing I’ve always maintained in my business, and instilled in my employees, is our love for social media and celebrating all of our client’s success. We always try to make all of our clients feel important and confident that we are in their corner.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would say Miami is the BEST choice & honestly my favorite city ever! I’m super into the outdoor and active scene in Miami, I got my nightlife experiences out of the way when I first moved here 8 years ago. So today my itinerary would look a little different than Aroon 8 years ago. That being said, Uchi for dinner is a must go to and my current favorite restaurant in Miami, for a good coffee you have the get the Jamaica latte at Pasion Del Cielo in Midtown. We will spend the day at the beach at Soho House and pick up some food at the Coconut Grove Vegan Farmers Market on Saturday. A cool nighttime bar is Dante’s speakeasy in Wynwood & make sure to grab a Tamarind mojito at the cute little mojito tiki bar in Wynwood. If you’re looking for something sweet, grab some delicious ice cream at Salt & Straw & if you’re feeling active take a class at Form50, Sweat440 or rent a bike and go down Key Biscayne!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, Megan Duncanson, has definitely played a major role in my life & success. She has always supported me and all my ideas, no matter how outlandish they were. I always knew she was my rock if everything went downhill and I needed someone to help. She is what made me feel comfortable taking risks and I could not have done it without her.
