We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashaala Shanae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashaala, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy is seeing those that God has placed in my path to support, guide, lead, coach, and mentor actually win! Every day I get a chance to live with purpose, in purpose, on purpose; using my impact, influence, and intellectual property to empower, educate, and enlighten others.
What should our readers know about your business?
My company, Vocal Wallstreet® is designed to help public speakers, singers, entertainers, entrepreneurs and “edutainers” turn their literal as well as figurative “vocal real estate™” into healthy, wealth-generating assets.
What sets me apart from others is the fact that I’ve been able to create flagship programs and services that cater to the all 5 aspects of the human voice along with integrating creative business strategies to diversify the voice through creative concepts. These five (5) areas include: voice confidence, vocal health and anatomy, vocal pedagogy and technique essentials, performance mastery, and voice monetization.
I am most proud of the fact that I started my company with only $500 and have grown it into a 7 figure enterprises since it’s inception. We currently operate through 4 major divisions (personal brands, digital real estate, mentorship programs, and voice legacy planning).
I believe I am where I am today due to the support of family, friends, resourceful business coaches, and mentors, reading lots of books and articles, asking for help, and most importantly God’s wisdom and guidance!
It hasn’t been easy, as entrepreneurship has it’s ebbs and flows. If you aren’t passionate about what you do, you will easily abort. I have been able to overcome the challenges through prayer, mentorship, patience, learned lessons, and adjusting where necessary to assure that next time I am prepared a lot more for the challenges I have the ability to control.
Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are:
1. No one owes me anything; I owe it to myself to WIN!
2. Never create a story; that way, you never have to send yourself down a rabbit hole of assumptions that were just that…assumptions
3. Hire slow, and fire fast.
4. Never stop learning; always seek coaching and mentorship no matter how successful you are.
5. Have grace with yourself, and be your biggest emotional support and safe space
6. Get business credit to leverage your business so that you don’t have to bootstrap.
7. Self care is important…make it a priority
8. Don’t forget to have fun along the way!
I want the world to know, that I am the person they never knew they needed! Everyone has a voice, and it’s vital that experts like myself and others teach you how to maximize two of the greatest assets ever given to us…our human voice and our purpose!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting me for the week, I would definitely take them to the beach, Wynwood to see the amazing artwork; we would dine at one of my favorite vegan spots, Planta, then I would take them to let off some steam at the Signature Spa on South Beach, then to the Smash room in Ft. Lauderdale to break things without getting in trouble! lol
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my grandmother, Ruth Helmena Gordon-Venzen, who supported my efforts of wanting to be a creative incubator ever since I was a little girl. She placed me piano and singing lessons at the age of 5 years old; invested in assuring that my talents were cultivated and developed, and supported every event that I had in her power to physically attend. She recently passed away from her 10 year battle with Dementia, and up to a week before her passing we share singing hymns together one last time. She will always be the shero who’s shoulders I will continue to stand on.
