We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashlee Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashlee, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from Mitchellville, Maryland (the DC metro area) and I grew up in what a lot of my friends described as “the cosby house”. My folks are still married, i have 4 brothers, we all lived together & for the most part got along. My dad is a serial entrepreneur & my mom is a teacher. So seeing my dad run his business & live life on his terms was one of the biggest parts of me deciding that i was going to own my own business one day. Subsconsciously i knew that i was never going to be someone’s employee forever but instead i was going to have the freedom to do what i want & live how i want on my own terms.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
A. Louise Creative is a graphic design firm that specializes in brand development and business growth. I’ve been a designer for almost as long as i can remember (since i was 16) and design has always been part of my life (or at least it feels that way!) I started my professional journey as Lou Ink Graphics in 2009 just “slangin” club flyers and as my life matured, my strategy and approach to design matured as well. so i rebranded in 2017 to reflect how i had “grown up” and it’s made all the difference. Becoming a fulltime freelancer was not easy because there’s so much about running a business that you don’t learn until you experience it. like brand positioning, attracting qualified leads, nurturing your audience, the feast & famine cycle… like it’s all a steep learning curve, but having a great tribe around you & a business bestie made a huge difference for me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
HA! I’m not from Miami, but i DO live in Monroe, Louisiana. I wouldn’t suggest you spend a week here, but a couple of days would give you everything you need. There are a lot of good places to eat here in Monroe, a lot of soul food & Creole Louisiana specialties.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Shoutout is my family & My Husband! My parents & my spouse are my backbone.
