We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my event planning business in the middle of covid lockdown when events were basically illegal to even host. To the outside world it must have been the craziest business plan they ever heard. To me, the lockdown was the push I always needed. With so much uncertainty in the world at that time, I had the overwhelming clarity that it was time to take my leap.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are The Event Collective, Events & Interiors by Ashley Brown. We collectively create custom celebrations and spaces in South Florida and destinations. If your event or space needs to be elevated we should be your first phone call. What sets us apart from other event companies and designers is that we don’t take every client that calls. We really take the time to get to know each and every client and their needs to make sure we are a good fit for each other. We are in the business of fun and believe the whole process should be just that. I am most proud of the fact that I still wake up every morning excited to get into the office. I got to where I am today by asking questions and not being afraid to start from the bottom and get my hands dirty. It was not easy and it took time, it does not happen over night but when it does the years of knowledge you gained in the process can never be taken away from you

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My absolute favorite thing in the world to do (in any city) is people watch and Ocean Ave in Miami is the best for it. I would bring them to all the Miami staples old and new. Lounge poolside at The Fontaine Blue, shopping in the design district, lunch at the Versace Mansion, Cocktails at The Clevelander, Dinner at Barton G.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My 2 year old daughter. The second she was born something in me clicked. I knew I had to not only tell her anything is possible with hard work and perseverance … I had to show her.
