We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Rhodes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, what do you attribute your success to?
The most successful part of Eptá Wear is being in a partnership with my sister. We both have different strong suits: hers being business and accounting and mine being marketing and industry knowledge. The combinations of those skills allows us to lean on each other for ideas and best practices.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently am a Corporate Recruiter for Trulieve. I been with the company going on 4 years and absolutely love what I do. I was brought Into HR because of my personnel skills and being able to connect with pretty much anyone.
My sister and co-owner, Kryssi Murrell is a Bookkeeper at Woman led, all women’s’ Accounting firm. She currently is in the process of building a partnership with the owner to manage a subsection of the business!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The area and region around Tallahassee, Florida and north Florida in general are growing immensely.
Ziplining over the animals and exhibits at the Tallahassee Museum is a must. It’s a walk through the old times of Tallahassee and absolutely captivating.
They would need to see and experience the beautiful capital city skyline, so we would either go to the Skydeck at the Florida Capitol for some nice views and history, or Eve on Adams – Which is a rooftop bar that offers a view of the entire Tallahassee skyline as well as amazing food and drinks.
Since we are in the Home of the historic Florida State University, I would definitely have to take them to Doak Campbell stadium to see where the Seminoles play. Depending on the time of year, We would go to the Dunlap Champions Club which is an exclusive patio area for food, drinks and good vibes.
For a night out on the town, I would definitely have to take my guest to the Midtown area for some shopping and bar-hopping. The Manor at Midtown is an area where middle- class, middle-age folks like myself go to hangout and listen to music/live bands. Always a mixed crowd, and never any drama – I love that area!
For a small getaway out of the city, or would either be Wakulla Springs where we would do some high-dive jumping and ride the glass bottom boat or St. George Island for some beach vibes and island time. The Blue Parrot is a Restaurant about 5 yards from the beach that offers amazing seafood and cocktails.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to shout-out all the beautiful black women that have business owners or starting a business.
Also, our father, Obadiah Rhodes. He has been our #1 supporter and investor since the very beginning of Eptá. His opinions and advice give so much value to our business, we could never repay him enough.
