Hi Ashlin, how do you think about risk?
Answer: How I Think About Risk

To me, risk is not something to fear but something to understand and manage. I’ve learned that taking risks isn’t about being reckless—it’s about stepping out of your comfort zone with purpose and preparation. Whether in life or business, risk-taking has been essential in creating opportunities that didn’t previously exist. At 4MG Mortgage, we started with a bold vision: to do more than just provide loans—we wanted to transform lives by guiding families, empowering partners, and supporting investors. That vision required taking risks: investing in relationships, trusting in our values of faith and resilience, and committing to a long-term mission when success wasn’t guaranteed.

Role of Risk in My Life/Career

Risk-taking has played a pivotal role in shaping my career and our company’s growth. Whether it’s launching 4MG Mortgage, building a team aligned with our mission, or supporting investors in scaling their portfolios, each decision involved calculated risks. The key for me has been balancing bold moves with a deep commitment to serving people first—focusing on relationships over transactions. By taking those risks, we’ve grown from a small company with a big dream into a trusted partner that helps families achieve homeownership and helps real estate professionals grow their businesses.

Mindset Toward Risk

My mindset toward risk is anchored in faith and resilience. Faith gives me the confidence to take bold steps when the outcome is uncertain, and resilience ensures that no matter the result, we learn and move forward stronger. I believe that meaningful success is impossible without risk—because growth, whether personal or professional, requires us to stretch beyond what’s comfortable. At 4MG Mortgage, we embrace smart risk-taking because we know that’s how dreams are built—one courageous step at a time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Answer: About 4MG Mortgage – Our Story and What Sets Us Apart

At 4MG Mortgage, we don’t just do loans—we do life and loans together. Our mission is rooted in faith, family, and resilience. What sets us apart is that we go beyond providing mortgages—we build relationships, empower people, and help families, partners, and investors achieve their dreams. We understand that buying a home or growing a real estate portfolio is one of the biggest decisions in a person’s life, so we focus on making the process as seamless and supportive as possible. Our motto is simple: “We focus on your loan so you can do life uninterrupted.”

What I’m most proud of is that 4MG isn’t just a business; it’s personal. I named the company 4MG because it stands for “For My Girls”, a daily reminder that everything I do is for my daughters. But the meaning doesn’t stop there—it’s also ‘for’ anyone’s why, whether that’s their kids, family, or personal goals. Our mission is to help people build a future around what matters most to them. That’s what excites me—knowing we’re part of helping people turn dreams into reality.

How We Got Here & Overcoming Challenges

The road to where we are today hasn’t been easy. Starting a business from the ground up is full of uncertainty, risks, and moments that test your faith. But I’ve always believed that challenges are what shape us, and resilience is what gets us through. There were days when the vision felt distant, but with faith, the right support system, and a clear purpose, we kept pushing forward.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you can’t do it alone. Surrounding yourself with people who believe in you, challenge you, and help you grow is critical. I’m incredibly grateful for my team at 4MG, who shares the same passion for serving others, and our partners like UWM Lending, AIME, and the Brokers Are Best Group, who’ve provided support and mentorship. Their encouragement and expertise have played a massive role in helping us grow, not just professionally but personally as well.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

1. Your ‘why’ matters. Whether it’s family, a personal dream, or something else, having a strong purpose will drive you through the hardest days.
2. Faith and resilience are key. You have to believe in what you’re building, even when things aren’t going as planned.
3. Relationships over transactions. At 4MG, we don’t just see people as clients—we see them as partners in a shared journey. Building trust and real relationships is what makes a business thrive.
4. Always keep learning. Whether from mentors, books, or even failures, every experience is an opportunity to grow.

What I Want the World to Know

I enjoy spending time on the boat with the girls and jumping into all the sandbars and getting food from the “food boats” on the water

I am a Miami girl, but really a business girl so if we’re not workin we’re traveling!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My journey wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible people who’ve supported and inspired me along the way. First and foremost, I want to dedicate my shoutout to my girls—they are the heart and soul behind everything I do. In fact, they are the reason I opened 4MG Mortgage in the first place. The name 4MG stands for ‘For My Girls,’ but the meaning goes beyond just them. It’s a reminder that everyone has a ‘why’—whether it’s their kids, their family, or even themselves—and at 4MG, we’re here to help people build a future around that purpose. My girls have always been my driving force, pushing me to take risks, stay focused, and work toward something greater than myself.

I also want to recognize the incredible team at 4MG Mortgage. This company isn’t just about me; it’s about a group of dedicated people who share a mission of empowering families, partners, and investors to achieve their dreams. Their hard work, integrity, and shared values have made us who we are today.
