We had the good fortune of connecting with Asis Almonte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Asis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, I wanted to do something radically different from what I was taught as a kid. For I grew up in an immigrant, latin household that placed all its values on the privilege to be an American Citizen and the endless opportunities that came with that title. I was taught that the best way to live a happy, fulfilled and successful life was by living out the American Dream.

Truly, NOW in 2022 what is the American Dream?! My whole life my parents engraved in my siblings and I that it was to get the greatest education, the most making money career (lawyer or doctor), the pickett fence house and retire at 50. However, one minor problem was that I was never taught to live a full life of joy, happiness and passion.

Instead of going the route my parents taught us, I went the route of creativity and dived into the world of fashion. I’ve had many jobs over the years from sales to beauty and skincare, but now I wanted to do something for me. So, after the love and support of my dearest friends I have evolved into The Wardrobe Stylist I was always on fire for but too scared to take the leap.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, it all began at 16 years old when I started my first job at a small clothing boutique in my small city. From there I went to college and continued to work while in school. I went from a small boutique to luxury retail like Bloomingdales and VINCE. Once I said goodbye to NYC and moved to Miami I got the opportunity of a lifetime to work for Estee Lauder and Companies as a Senior Account Coordinator in Travel Americas. It was the dream career I for years felt I worked so hard for and it would be the momentum to my success.

Although, I had the greatest leaders and mentors around me I felt that I was incapable of appeasing my bosses in the way they probably wanted me to. I would say fear, insecurity, and doubt in myself to be great were the things that got the best of me. Needless to say, the stress of my own pressures and the expectations of the role placed me in the emergency room.

At that very moment I knew this is not what I wanted for the rest of my life. Over the course of a year, I learned so much for an incredible organization that started with the passion to get their fragrance out into the world. I guess I have the same idea! Accept it involves building a partnership with everyday, hardworking individuals that simply don’t have time to worry about the small intricate details.

My goal is not to become a pushy sales person, but to continue to build my brand into an organization of community and lifestyle. It starts with a single individual and potentially will grow into a whole family. I am seeking a partnership with people to be friends for a lifetime. StyledbyAsis is not your typical personal shopping and/or closet organization experience. We seek something more meaningful for you and your family.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a fun question! Goodness we could do so much in a whole week. If my best friend would land on a Friday for example, I would prepare my home with snacks, towels, wine, face masks and candles. I enjoy hosting my friends and family, so I always want to make sure if there was anytime they just wanted to talk away for hours the house was completely ready for a day or night in.

Once arrived I would take them to my favorite coffee/lunch spot in Midtown Miami, Thatch. The staff is kind and the food is great. We would then probably walk around Miami Design District for some catching up time. For a late evening dinner, we would go to Baby Jane in Brickell because the drinks are delicious, the live music is always jamming never missing a beat and the food is incredible. On Saturday we would have an all day outing at the Beach at South Pointe. Sunday I would bring them with me to Church at VOUS. I am a Christian and its important in my life that I never miss a Sunday at Church unless I am sick or traveling.

Then the remaining of the week we have so many options from Wynwood to Downtown and Little Havana. I am a huge foodie so we’d probably be eating every second of the day in different places. One of my favorite things in Miami is sky gazing on a beautiful sunny day or going for a drive just because.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Gosh! I can think of so many people I can dedicate this shoutout to. First my dearest and incredible friend Katlyn Hovland for pushing me to launch my business. Secondly, my lovely friend Joy Bethany Paul for recommending me to Voyage Miami. and all my other wonderful friends who have been on board since announcing my journey of making this dream into a reality. Thank you to all!
