We had the good fortune of connecting with Baileigh Wilks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Baileigh, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career because it was something I always have, and continue to, gravitate towards. Guess you could say I feel like I was meant to do this? I’ve been songwriting since I was 5, and I remember being young, wanting to be a music producer before I knew what that even meant. Doesn’t’ mean I didn’t lose faith along the way. But I guess you just wake up one day and realize, you have to take yourself seriously. So, how could I not?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Conduit is my alias and it is a brand. It’s also a metaphor: that we all have a purpose. It’s the story and the lesson, and I’d like people to know that they have to believe in their purpose and in their dreams, whole-heartedly, to see it into reality. My lesson? Well, there’s been plenty, and they just keep coming.

My sense of spirituality, philosophy, love, life, the culmination of my experience, the collective of my lessons, is what separates my brand from others. I hope when people step into my world, they see me, and they also see pieces of themselves. I think that’s what storytelling, what song-writing, what being a ‘conduit’ is all about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So even though I am a major homebody I defintiely have a few favorite spots here in Jax. First and foremost, we’d go to community loaves! It’s such a homey spot and has a lovely staff. Plus, the food is fresh and amazing. I also love Corner taco. That’s my evening spot. I always get the same thing– two tacos, yucca fries and a Mexican coke! I also love to show off Tillie Park, the beach, and Florida’s nature scenes to people who haven’t experienced it first hand. There is so much magic in Florida’s backyard. It’s on of my favorite things about being from here.

As far as night life goes, its not exactly the same these days, but I think riverside and Murray Hill night life is where it’s at.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s really so many people I’d like to thank—from the mentors in my trading and investment groups to the social activist and musical leaders amongst my internet friends and in my hometown. Aleecya, Renachi, Geexella, Che Forreign, Jax Takes Action, radicaljax, Folio 2.0 —its humbling to see so many groups and community members genuinely looking to take care and support.
