We had the good fortune of connecting with Barbara Exposito and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Barbara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Freedom. Freedom of location, schedule and earning capacity.
Freedom to choose where to live, when to work, and how much money to make.
As the mother of three kids between the ages of 7 and 14, it is impossible to keep track of their schedules, teacher plans, extracurricular activities, and doctor appointments. Freedom to be there for my kids and not have to worry about comments from coworkers when I had to run out the door to pick up my kids, go to a school event, or take them to the doctor was the main reason.
I like the variety of where I work and not having to be in the office. Sometimes, you need a quiet place to work or plan without being interrupted all the time. Other times, you need to work from home because your child is sick and you need to be there to watch them, but you have the bandwidth to work from home.
Last but not least, earning capacity was a big one for me. I found that I was hitting ceilings, and no matter how much I saved the organization or increased productivity and sales through workflows and processes, that didn’t lead to more revenue streams.
When I thought about starting my own business, I was mostly interested in having more freedom. I also liked the idea of helping other businesses and having a wide range of clients.

We also do coaching for individuals and have an 8-week program for women who want to lead. We love being part of a community and giving people power through energy work and unconscious mind shift (EFT-Tapping). We’ve found that combining energy coaching, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and reiki is a good way to get momentum and make big changes.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Beach outing is a must, Faena is a beautiful place to enjoy the day. You can enjoy a spa treatment, beachside lunch and sunbathing taking in vitamin c.
Miami is known for the amazing food and culture, from the Gables to hidden gems in Kendall, food and conversation is another way to spend your week in Miami.
Shows, live performances enrich our beautiful city and there is always a new line up at our local performing arts centers.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Along my path, I’ve been lucky to have mentors who have helped me and shown me the way. I have also had my fair share of people who served as villains’ in my story. Both have helped me learn and grow. My mother, who was a single parent and overcame the challenges she faced, taught me how to work hard, be determined, and keep going.
Sometimes starting a new business and figuring out how to align with clients is hard, and most organizations are not willing to look into consultants. Through the gifts of the universe, you do find clients who are ready to bring about change and shake up the status quo, and they are happy to have you (in this case, me) join their team.
Ocean Automotive Group was one of those clients for me. Michael Garcia, the President and CEO, and Fernando Rodriguez, the General Manager, didn’t hesitate when they saw the chance to work with me and my business. They became a client in 2022, and I’ve been working with the leadership team to improve workflows, processes, automation, and the opening of their 4th rooftop in West Kendall. They’ve been owned by the same family for 33 years, and they treat their employees like family. The South Florida Business Journal just named them one of the top 10 best places to work. They are a really great group and organization, and it’s been a lot of fun to work with them and be a part of their group.
