We had the good fortune of connecting with Beatrice Simamane Hlongwa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beatrice, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business started after losing my husband. It motivated me into doing something for myself, my kids, and my grandkids.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m Beatrice Simamane Hlongwa CEO of Thebooweave, LLC. I started the business to provide quality hair at an affordable price. Hair has always been a part of my life as I started doing hair since I was a young girl. My most proud moment is when I registered my name with the LLC. How did I get to where I am with my business today it wasn’t easy. I did have my moments of wanting to quite because it was so overwhelming. I prayed and asked God what I need to do. I remember always telling my kids never quite what they start in life. That God will give me the answer that I need all my life. What I did was rebuild my brand this is how I overcome all the challenges. The lessons I have learned in this business is that it doesn’t happen over night it takes time. I want the world to know about me. To know there is life after losing your loved ones. Today I am standing tall and can say anyone can do this!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It’s really sad because I’m not going anywhere at this moment. My life is not exciting because right now I’m wearing too many hat’s for my business. The other thing is I really don’t know Atlanta as well as others, because I moved here when COVID-19 started it was very bad time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest supporters are my kids and friends. I will not be doing what I am doing today without Suzane Joseph through her organization Redirect Your Choice. She has even shared her therapist Audrey Brooks who helped me with my grieving. I would love to recognize this amazing lady Latonia Francois of Let’s Write Life. She has helped me with my journaling and how I can help other people in so many different ways that I never knew. I would love to shoutout to the special person that been supporting me Dr. Themba Wills
