We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca Meyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Becca, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, I was super nervous but very eager to start my own business! Nervous because I wasn’t sure where it will take me. If it would even work out or not. I once was told by a wise friend that “You can do anything you set your mind to.” That always stuck to me.

There’s a wise quote also that says “If you don’t put your foot through the door, how will you ever know what’s on the other side?” I thought to myself if I started this journey and I don’t succeed, at least I gave it a shot and checked it off my “To Do” list in life.

I don’t regret starting this journey because I have met some amazing people and have had the wonderful opportunity of working alongside other vendors. Photography has brought me much happiness.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a photographer is not easy. It’s not hard either. I like to call it “Challenging”. Challenging because there are so many other amazing competitors in this field and their work is so beautiful. I feel very blessed and grateful when a client wants to book with me because it makes me feel appreciated. They value my time and the work I put into it.

I’ve come a long way to being who I am today. I’ve dreamt of capturing the love and capturing the memories of people and putting it together and making art out of it since I was a teenager. I’ve always wanted to pursue my dream but I felt like it was never the right time or the right moment. As if the Lord was telling me to slow down, and focus on the now and I will reward you with your dream in the future.

I wouldn’t say it was hard becoming a Photographer because of the support I had by my side, but it was crazy to think that ” WOW. I’m actually going to do this.” I felt ready and confident in taking that big leap, that big step in life.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way is to try every type of session. Such as families, couples, kids’ sessions, and so forth. Find what is right for you. Find what makes you happy. What gives you the RUSH! I’ve had days where I would feel unmotivated because I felt like I wasn’t doing what I love. Even though I knew that I loved photography. It didn’t mean I didn’t love my clients who came my way, but it meant that I needed that SPARK. That’s when I decided to switch to focusing on couples because I enjoyed capturing the intimacy of two people expressing their love for one another.

Becca Meyer Photography is here to capture the love and put them together and tell a story. BMP is here to capture the love between adventurous couples and wildly in-love couples.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the grace of God.

My best friend, my husband, is also one of my biggest supporters. He has pushed me and encouraged me into being who I am today. My family and loved ones have also shown so much support in this field and I am so very thankful and grateful for each and every one of them.
