Meet Bernesia Castellano | License Esthetician and Spa Owner/Founder and Creator of both a Skincare and Cosmetics Brand

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bernesia Castellano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bernesia, what do you want your legacy to be?
I would like my future generation to know that I never quit. Never quit on YOU because you’ll never know how far You can go and how much you can accomplish to change an entire generation by making that one decision of never giving up on your dreams.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Deux Marie Cosmetics and Skincare was formed back in September 2018 and Deux Marie Aesthetics and Beauty Spa just had our grand opening August 18th 2024. There are a few things that we are proud of as a company/brand, our skincare and cosmetics company was invited to a Pre-Emmy’s gift lounge not once but twice, Pre-Oscars gift suite twice, featured on ABC Utah Mother’s Must Haves, made it on the Swank List of products must haves and featured on a few well-known magazines. What sets up apart from other Aesthetics and Beauty Spa is that we are a few Beauty Spas that have its own skincare product line catered to every type.

Getting to this point in our company structure wasn’t easy. Countless sacrifices, juggling a JOB at the time, right after work head to school from 5pm to 9pm, then head to the store to get it ready for our grand opening. It wasn’t easy there were days where I was so exhausted and tired that I don’t even know how I got stuff done. I didn’t look at these as challenges but as a foundation to build an entity that my future generation would be proud of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m very much a home body person so most of the place would either be the beach or restaurants. I love anything close to the water so my first stop would be a day at the beach, Ft. Lauderdale Beach to be exact, the best in south Florida. Then after the beach we can dine at any restaurant on Las Olas Blvd. That’s day one, our second day, we can visit the Morikami Museum and Japanese Garden in Palm Beach. The next couple days we can go shopping Sawgrass Mills or Aventura Mall. Have a couple of home cook meals and even a visit to my spa. That’s a must 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I’ll like to shoutout my daughters Destiny and Precious. We’ve been through a lot throughout this journey they are the real MVP’s. Secondly my righthand, my partner Joseph Glasgow, he has continuously supported me. Listening to my crazy ideas and to make them a realty. Third my mentors I got a few but I’ll mention two Brenda Bonterre (she’s like a second mother to me), being in business for over 30years, her knowledge and experience and her tough talks I would always be grateful for. And my second mentor is Youandi Jackman-Brown, Youandi is like a second big sister our accountability calls every other Fridays was key, for this I am forever grateful.
