We had the good fortune of connecting with Bert Cornielius and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bert, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well I guess you can say I was born into it. My family is The Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose. Treat her like a lady, Too late to turn back now and Since I found my baby were 3 of their biggest hits and they’re music was always featured by Kanye West and the movies Anchor Man and Black Kkklansman. Since I was a kid I was groomed for the stage. A weekend at my grandma’s house was literally a school talent show between me and my cousins. I had it in my heart to be a singer but then one day whole out with my wife she convinced me to join a sketch comedy group, then one day a comedian was running late for the arm up and my wife volunteered me to do stand up. I did it and fell in love. The music business prepped me for what was my true calling, stand up comedy.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others here in the south Florida comedy scene is I am determined and always adapting. No offense to them but it’s just an opinion on me. I am determined to make it to the big leagues. No is just a pause on the GPS while heading to my destination. I don’t let it hinder my goals and dreams. I am always adapting. I recently tried something different on social media by performing voiceovers and it worked tremendously. As of right now I have over 100,000 followers between multiple platforms like TikTok Facebook and Instagram. My current Instagram page has over 80,000 followers and I’ve gained over 31 million views in the past month alone. I have multiple 1 million plus view videos and a video that’s trending at about 20 million
Combine that with multiple notable people following, liking and commenting on my page and it’s an amazing experience because for 10 years I have just been writing and grinding and performing, and now I’m starting to see the fruits of my labor come to fruition.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I know mostly comedy clubs to be hoe st but if with you want a good spot to go to when you’re in my city come by wherever I’m performing that’s it. I don’t wanna point you towards anything other than a Mr. show performance and just know you’re going to have a good time. I am filming my special on November 20th so if you’re in town stop by!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The late Chris Priester was instrumental in my growth as a comedian. Though I was in the biz longer I learned the business from him: I am a fully incorporated business entity because of him. My comedian brother Sylvestor Pookie Britton has given me some solid rice of the years as well. Pookie is an amazing host/comic that can also be a wealth of info. My wife Rita is the original architect of my comedy career and I will always be in debt to her for believing in me in something I didn’t know I could do. My DJs Raw DJ’s always have my back, supportive and know the right selections to keep the crowd going. There’s so many people I appreciate but they’re top tier in my book!
