Meet Beth Bru

We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Bru and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beth, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my decision to never give up. I’ve faced rejection, doubt, and seasons of uncertainty, but I chose to keep going. I remain open to feedback, stay consistent with painting, content, and refining my craft, and I’m not afraid to put myself out there.
But at the core of it all is my relationship with God. Prayer keeps me grounded when things feel unclear. He reminds me of my “why” and gives me strength when I feel like quitting.
Other key pieces: treating every person I meet with kindness and authenticity, staying disciplined in my health—eight hours of sleep, early mornings, a clean low-carb diet, strength training, yoga, and breathwork. And lastly, letting myself have fun. Joy is part of my brand, and that means making space for laughter, friendship, and moments of rest.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an artist, I believe in the power of color, movement, and form to uplift. My style blends abstraction with Memphis-inspired design to tell stories about joy, chaos, and the sacredness of everyday life. I use bold lines and vibrant color palettes to create pieces that spark reflection, connection, and sometimes even nostalgia.
My work is deeply influenced by my faith, my love for urban culture, and the strength I’ve found through solitude. Raised in the desert and now rooted in Miami, I carry both environments into my practice—sunlight and shadow, stillness and vibrance.
It wasn’t easy getting here. I’ve had to fight through doubt, financial instability, and fear. I didn’t always know how things would work out, especially when I moved from Arizona to Miami with little money. But God showed up in every step and reminded me I was worthy of this calling.
What’s helped me most has been:
Staying consistent even when it felt like nothing was happening
Refusing to let rejection define me
Remaining teachable and open to feedback
Choosing boldness over comfort
Holding tightly to my faith
The biggest lessons? Stay consistent. Be bold. Make room for fun.
What I want people to know about me and my brand is this: I come from a past where joy felt like it had left me. Because of that, it’s now my mission to bring joy to others through art. I’m here to share light, offer hope, and reflect the beauty that can be found in even the darkest moments. I was given this gift—and now, I give it back.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve actually made a lot of Miami itineraries for my visiting friends—I love showing people the city through a creative and nature-loving lens.
Here’s what a week might look like:
Day 1: Coffee at Maman (best vibes), then explore the murals in Wynwood and grab a burger from Skinny Louie
Day 2: Chill day at the beach—ride Citi Bikes along South Beach, then lunch at Puerto Sagua, a Cuban classic
Day 3: Visit The Bass Museum in Miami Beach, and grab dinner at The River Oyster Bar in Brickell
Day 4: Kayaking at Morningside Park followed by a peaceful evening and some yoga
Day 5: Live music night in Fort Lauderdale and a trip to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center to visit the turtles
Day 6: Church at VOUS, followed by a walk through the Design District
To me, the best parts of Miami are the ones that blend creativity, nature, and soul.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. I want to shout out Emmy Starbrown, a Chicago-based artist I had the honor of assisting during Art Basel 2021 on two murals in Wynwood. She’s not only an incredibly hardworking and talented professional, but also one of the kindest and most grounded people I know. She exemplifies what it means to persevere through life and still reach your goals. I’m truly grateful for her example and her friendship. I also recommend that every artist or entrepreneur read The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.
