We had the good fortune of connecting with Betty Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Betty, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Brillando Books helps the community because it provides easy, accessible books for parents and teachers to implement for children in the early childhood years. Many times parents want to help their children over the summer or after school by providing more enriching activities and opportunities and they don’t know exactly what to do. I created my books to be used in a way where parents can implement them for less than 10 minutes a day while still making an impact on their child’s academic development.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a multifaceted millennial, my business, Brillando, encompasses several aspects of who I am and what I love to do. I am an educator for children with special needs as well as I publish books for teachers and parents to be able to use to easily support their children’s academic development. I am a bilingual content creator who loves to create content to help bring together my community of moms, teachers, Latinos, and miami girls.

I got here today by always engaging in what I love which is creating content and connecting with others. I used my skills and 10+ years of experience as an educator to bring humor in to the lives of many as well as look for what gaps I can fill using my knowledge which is how I started creating academic workbooks.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend from out of town was visiting Miami I would take her to the underrated places like the delicious taco shops in the Redlands and the hole in the wall latin food spots for breakfast! Of course we would spend a day or two at the beach (north of 70th street! I feel too old going too south on Collins). And for night life we would dance the night away in Brickell.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to my husband, my closest friends, and my mom who never let me forget how powerful and intelligent I am! It is because they never let me give up that I am able to get through my feelings of doubt and imposter syndrome.
