We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe everyone should take risks in order to truly maximize their potential to become successful. Risk taking builds confidence and character. You never know what opportunities you could possibly miss if you’re scared to take risks. I’ve always been an advocate for taking risks and thankfully it has always placed me exactly where I imagined for myself. Success comes in many facets and many view success differently so however you view success is what you should make to be a priority in your life. The key is to take risks that will enhance your life in some way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own Sommer Styles Boutique which is an online boutique currently specializing in women’s clothing and accessories but as we grow we’ll be adding personal styling and men’s wear. I registered the business in 2019 and launched in February 2020 after extensive research regarding owning and operating an online boutique. I wanted to learn as much as I could about the business. I’m planning to scale the business before the end of the year. I believe what sets Sommer Styles Boutique apart from other online boutiques is the quality of products, along with delivery options to South Florida residents, meeting us at Pop Up Shops, great customer service as well as special discounts for our online VIP subscribers.

I’m most proud of the fact that I started my business while working a full time job after moving from Indiana (which is where I was born and raised) to South Florida 5 years ago with a desire to create, grow, & live in a city that was conducive to my personal wants & where I envisioned myself to be more successful. I’ve been completely hands on with all aspects of operating my business while working my full-time career in Human Resources.

I believe that I’ve been successful with my business because I’ve planted my feet on the ground and started doing Pop Up Shops and a fashion show this year which has allowed me to meet and connect with new customers, supporters, business owners and make new friends.

It was definitely not easy, as like most business owners I’ve had my share of struggles with searching for quality manufacturers, low sales, issues with photographers not providing qualityservice, & pop up shops not being successful. It made me dive in deeper and do more research on ways to market and advertise my business which I believe is a lifelong process. You should always look for opportunities to grow your business.

Some of the lessons I learned along the way is to be patient with yourself, stay focused, keep like minded people around you, and the most important is simply to not quit. Keep going no matter what obstacles you encounter. You have to be willing to go through the trial and error and growing pains in order to become successful.

I want the world to know that Sommer Styles Boutique is more than a brand. We pride ourselves in offering quality pieces which is why the slogan is “Stunning Styles In Every Season” which encompasses being and feeling your best self in all four seasons no matter where you live in the world. Our pieces are for all fashion lovers and anyone seeking to enhance their wardrobe. I’m excited about incorporating personal styling packages. I believe that when a person looks good, they feel good about themselves and we want to help in that way for every customer and client who patronizes Sommer Styles Boutique. My desire is for others to feel great about themselves as they walk through their life’s journey after their purchase. It helps build the confidence that I think people sometimes seek in others to do for them. We offer a variety of different ensembles that I know many would love. So as we continue to grow I hope our supporters will grow with us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to Shooters for brunch. J. Alexander or Cafe Ragazzi for an Italian dinner. If we went out for a night on the town I would select a few lounges Lallos, Moments, Oakcraft, LIV or Story. We would probably go to a concert because I love live music. Maybe even a basketball game, an Improv comedy show, or drive to Key West. If we were grabbing something quick I’d say Mahi Mahi from Nick’s Bar & Grill, chicken and waffles from Big Pink or Rok Bar.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
I totally believe that my faith in GOD has allowed me to keep an open mind and to trust Him on whichever path that HE has directed me to go. My relationship with GOD has truly helped guide me along my life’s journey. However, I would also like to give a shout out to my (step) father who raised me & who has always instilled in me the importance of having a great work ethic and to never give up on my dreams. He was really more than a father. He was a mentor, a coach, and such an all around patient teacher which made such a great impact throughout my childhood that still remains with me today. I would also give a shout out to Monica Burns who was the branch manager at a credit union I worked at for 2 years when I was 19 years old. She was a major blessing in one of the most hardest times in my life. She’s touched so many people lives. So I’m definitely grateful for her, my dad, and my close family/ friends that gave me sound advice when I needed it.
