We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Jade and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bianca, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I think about the word ‘risk’ I think of the quote “without risk there is no reward.” I believe that in order to have new experiences and level-up in your life, you have to be willing to take risks. This doesn’t mean just jumping without any thought, but being willing to get out of your comfort zone for the sake of growth. The greatest experiences I’ve had in my life and career as an artist have come from taking risks. You have to be willing to sacrifice time, money, and comfort to truly have success as an artist. Since I was young I was making sacrifices like choosing to stay home and write songs instead of going out with friends or investing my own money into recording my music or for shooting music videos. There will always be potential risks, but when you become invested like that you’re more likely to push yourself forward.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider myself a ‘songbird of soul’ because growing up my mom and adults around me used to hear me singing everywhere I went and called me a ‘little songbird.’ I’m incredibly proud of my catalog thus far. I’ve released 2 EP’s and several singles since 2014 and I’m growing and getting better with every song. I would say that the most important ingredient in my success as an artist has been perseverance. I’ve experienced lots of rejection in my career, but I try to look at rejection as ‘redirection.’ If this one situation didn’t workout, I try to ask myself what I could do better and adjust.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I have a friend visiting Miami, I would first take them with me to the beach and spend a couple hours soaking up the sun. We would grab a bite at La Sandwicherie for lunch. I would then take them with me to the Carillon spa and spend sometime relaxing in the Jacuzzi and detox in the sauna. We would later go to Lagniappe in Midtown to enjoy live music and sit out on the patio for some wine and light bites. If we feel like going out to a club, I’d take them to Wynwood to bar hop and we would probably hit Brick, 1-800 Lucky and Gramps for some late night pizza.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my partner DapYP who has been an integral part of my music career and overall growth as an artist. We’ve written lots of songs together and continuously support each other’s careers. Navigating the music industry can be tough especially for artists, but when you have solid people in your corner it makes the journey worthwhile.
