We had the good fortune of connecting with Bill Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bill, what do you attribute your success to?
Water Taxi is a boat tour/transportation company that connects guests and locals to 10 stops in Fort Lauderdale, and 1 stop in Hollywood. Water Taxi has been in operation for over 30 years, and over this time we have grown with the city. The most important factor behind the success of Water Taxi is the support from the community of Fort Lauderdale. Water Taxi boards over 1 million people every year, and participates in beloved events such as Winterfest, Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, PRIDE, and Tortuga Music Festival. The city hires Water Taxi to assist with Beach Bash and the Fourth of July Festival to help alleviate traffic and get people to the scene of fun faster. We operate the complimentary River Trolley owned by the city. The city of Fort Lauderdale has always been supportive of Water Taxi, so in return we like to giveback. Some of our donees include Broward county schools, Birch State Park, Turquoise Takeover, and Riverwalk.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Originally from Marblehead, Massachusetts, I officially moved to Fort Lauderdale in 2014 after years of commuting. In 2007, I purchased Water Taxi of Fort Lauderdale. The Water Taxi is unique due to it’s 10 stops throughout Fort Lauderdale. Once your ticket is purchased you can use it all day to hop off at stops, explore the area, then hop back on as many times as you want. We also have a stop on select days in Hollywood at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. Since 2007, Water Taxi has grown, boarding 1 million people per year and connecting hundreds of Broward county businesses. We have a list of “Cruise and Save” partners that graciously offer discounts if you have a Water Taxi ticket.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Water Taxi is the perfect activity for friends or family from out of town. Whether your guest wants to lay out on Fort Lauderdale beach, take a nature walk in Birch State Park, shop at the Galleria mall, or bar hop on Las Olas, there’s a Water Taxi stop to peak anyone’s interest. The best part is, once you hop off, you can hop back on to go to the next stop of choice. Or of course you have the option to stay on the boat for the full tour to see the beautiful mansions, yachts, and nature of Fort Lauderdale. You’ll be constantly entertained by our knowledgeable and humorous Captains and crew, and have the option to buy a cold drink from the boat’s bar.
