We had the good fortune of connecting with Bleu Reese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bleu, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I would like my legacy to be about me being that selfless person any and everybody could run to, I like to think of myself as a hero sometimes so I would Love for my legacy to be that I gave back to my community and I was able to have such a huge positive impact on so many people while doing so. What I want people to remember about me is that I was self driven, very humble and a genuine person who gave out of love and didn’t expect anything in return but just simply wanting everyone to spread love and positivity amongst the world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A little bit more about my art is that I am a self-taught dance, to me that alone sets me apart from others in the industry profoundly. What I am most proud of is my dedication, knowledge and hard work. I’m excited about reaching new heights and expanding myself to others and giving them something to look forward to in life through me telling my story. How did I get to where I am today professionally was networking, staying positive, long hours of training and keeping God first. It was definitely not easy because of my childhood and the way I was brought up so a lot of things took way more effort and hustle than it really should’ve. However, I overcame the challenges by sticking to the plan, remembering why I started and keeping my prayer life and faith amongst great measures. Lessons I’ve learned along the way was you can’t take everyone with you and not everybody deserves to sit at your table no matter how long you knew them for, you grow apart from people and most of the times it’s for the best. You can’t create a new chapter if you’re continuing to write in the old one and I’ve also learned that your comfort zone is your dead zone. You got to get out and experience new things and take risks! What I want the world to know about Bleu Reese is that being lesbian hasn’t stopped me from pursuing my goals, the LGBTQ community gets a lot of hate and not much support but I am here and I am making it happen because I want the best for my city (miami) and My LGBTQ community. My brand will be known for being that helping hand and being the game changer for the dance industry and unifying the south Florida community through arts making it a better place where everyone will be treated equally. Bleu Reese will be the voice for everyone and will make a difference in this World!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to my backyard which is Wynwood. Wynwood consist’s of art, tourism, great bars, lovely music, high energy of people from all sorts of places around the world and very delicious food! It has art museums, amazing clothing stores and lots of street performers that you could run into for phenomenal entertainment. Its like a very large block party, everywhere you go there is an event on every corner. A lot of celebrities come down and perform at this very spot and the best thing of all is that everything is near by so traveling is easy. Miami nightlife resides in Wynwood!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
