Meet Bob Friedman | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bob Friedman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bob, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
In college in the 70’s I photgraphed for the Newspaper and Yearbook. The girl from college who put on the shows got a jobmwith A &M records. My college roomate and I got a wharehouse and looked at each other and said. “I guess we’re professionals now!” We decided that taking out an ad in the Yellow Pages was not enough, We had to go out and put ourselves out there. We went to A&M to see her and she gave us a job shooting the Peter Frampton Concert. In a year we had 27 record labels for clients and 5 music magazines. We then did our first Album Cover, and it was all uphill from there.
After moving to Florda and not having all those Record Lables for clients as Sony bought them all up, I new I had to stop waiting for the phone to ring and get out there again. I started doing Photography Meetups, and came up with interesting cosplay themes and never let things get in my way, or let barriers get me down. Once it had been months since I came up with Godiva on a horse at the beach, and kept getting barriers. I did not let that stop me and eventually I got permission to have a horse on Deerfield Beach for a photoshoot and a nude model. Deerfield doesn’t even let dogs on the beach but I got permission to have a horse. Modelzview Magazine ran 12 pages of our photos and it boosted my business dramatically.
Never let things or circumstances get you down. Stay in your vision and own your power and things will come your way.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Learning Photoshop, and Corel Draw Design Studio has allowed me to change backgrounds and make multi-layered images that are very eye catching. Magazines love the expanse and originality my Photographs. have.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my Lifelong friend visits from his now home in North Carolina, I take him to places interesting and he has never seen like the Keys in Florida or Ocala National Forest, outside of Orlando. Once I took him to the lower keys to meet Jimmy Buffet, a very cool famous musician.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of my success came from me doing a Transformational Education couse called Lifespring at the time. Now it’s call Summitt Education and Gratitude trainings in south Florida and other names in other cities. I have been volunteering and staffing traings for others for 20 years, and spent a lot of time coaching other people in how to have their visions come true. Living out of openness, and positivity and not positionality or negativity, is the answer. My thanks to John Hanley Jr., Ken and Kathy Cushman and, and Jo Engleson, for wroking with me and having me assist them in their trainings has kept me positive and have my dreams come true.
