We had the good fortune of connecting with Bobbie Weiner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was finishing up my makeup job on the film “Titanic”, doing the makeup on the floating dead frozen actors when one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s stunt doubles asked me for makeup for a Chargers game he and his buddies were going to the next day in San Diego. I gave him the colors he asked for and said to him “Have a great time.”

When he showed up in my chair the next day I asked him how the game was? He was so excited to tell me that he and his buddies were featured on the big screen and people asked him where he got the face paint. I said  “Your Kidding, what did you use before? He told me that they used Sharpies and Magic Markers. I thought to myself, I have to make face paint for these kids and their teams. When I was finished doing the frozen actors for James Cameron’s mega hit film, “Titanic” I asked a young man working as a Barista in a coffee shop in La Jolla, CA if he would let me paint his face. He said “Cool”. I progressed to paint his face with the Charger’s Colors, took some photos of his face and drove up to Los Angeles and walked into UCLA with the photos. I had no appointment and asked someone working in the huge UCLA Campus store for a buyer for Team Spirit accessories. She looked at me like I was off my rocker. No appointment, and who has the gall to walk in and ask for a buyer like that.
I did and showed her a photo of my model. Little did I know that The UCLA Bruins colors were the same as the Chargers.  That is the same color I painted my model. She thought it was a terrific idea and disappeared for 10 minutes and came down the escalator with “The Buyer”.  He said to me “Come with me”. I followed him up the escalator to his office and he said to me that no one had ever thought to do this and it was a brilliant idea. He said to me that I have to do the big college show coming up in 3 weeks. He ordered 288 Face Paint Kits on the spot.
He trusted that I could package and present a great kit. He made a call to the director of the College Sports Convention in Las Vegas and got me a booth. 3 weeks later I was in Vegas with my model and we sold 46 colleges with his painted face and that is how I started my business 2 weeks after I finished my work on “Titanic.” Shortly after I met with the buyer at UCLA I was asked to be on a morning show and I was asked to recreate the Dead Frozen actors I made up on the “Titanic.” I mentioned that my makeup never came off the faces of the actors and luckily for me someone was watching that morning at 7 a.m.  and heard my remark about the paint never coming off their faces. That someone was a buyer for The US Marines. He called the station and got through and he told them that I had to call him as soon as I got off the air.  That day I flew back to San Diego and met with the buyer early in the morning and the rest is history.
By 4 pm I was getting calls from PX’s all over the USA that they had heard I am the lady who is going to make new makeup for the Marines and they want to meet with me. I was told that I had to do the Dept.Of the Defence  Convention in Dallas in 3 weeks and they were kind enough to hook me up with the director of the convention and they found me a booth. Needless to say that the DOD needed a new face paint for the US Soldiers.

What should our readers know about your work?
26 years ago I started my business in a garage in San Diego. I sold my Jeep and lived with people for 5 years. Today I have a small warehouse in Miami FL and a huge facility on the West Coast. I have 259 employees. Everything I make is made in the USA including all of my makeup, compacts and packaging.

I am recognized as the #1 Supplier of Camo Face Paint to the US Military. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and National Guard. I have received Gold Medals from the DOD for my quality Camouflage makeup and my quick delivery. I was the guest speaker for Comic Con San Diego in 2001 and walked the show and decided to create my own Comic Book, “Tales of Bloody Mary” . Today I have licensed my comic books to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, Six Flags and numerous Haunted Houses all over the country which they name Bloody Mary. “Bloody Mary”  is the nickname I got when I did my very first movie, “Pumpkin Head 2 Blood Wings”.  I make Bloody Mary Mix and 4 Bloody Mary Hot Sauce flavors. The labels on my Hot Sauce and Bloody Mary Mix are my comic book covers. I have received awards for the best labels and the best Posters from my comic books.
I have been featured in Fortune magazine, Womens Magazines, Teen and Sports Magazines.  I was asked to create  a makeup kit and contest for Yum Corporation for the Vikings Football Team which sold in all of their fast food restaurants including Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut. The winner of the best makeup won 2 season tickets to the Minnesota Vikings Games.  Today I am written up in College Text Books and they compare me with Sam Walton. I could go on and on with all of the “Stuff” I have created. I wrote a best selling book, “I Can Do This, The Bloody Mary Story”  which got the attention of Mark Burnett and he did a TV show about me, “How’d You Get So Rich”.  I am in my 3rd printing of the book and I have been told it is the most inspirational book people have read. Men and Women alike. I am hired to be a Guest Speaker at all types of Conventions and  Colleges.  People love my story and love that I am always doing makeup on someone from the audience on the stage including presidents of huge companies  as I share my story. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I am in CA I love to take people to the Del Coronado Hotel. It is my favorite destination where they made the famous movie,  “Some Like It Hot”.

When I have visitors in Miami I like to go to Little Havana and have dinner at my favorite Cuban restaurant, La Carita and then go to Wynnewood and visit all the Art Galleries and shops.
