We had the good fortune of connecting with Boiiwonderz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Boiiwonderz, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Ever since I can remember art has been an escape for me. Before I even knew what anxiety or coping meant, I had art. Walking into your local Toys R Us never meant getting the new hot wheels or basketball. It meant walking over to the Crayola section and wondering if I’d walk out with markers or crayons that day. Coloring books were my bible and creating colorful landscapes from the palm of my hand was my religion. With each passing year my craft intensified and by the time I got to high school I knew art was my passion forever. The AP arts program at my school opened my eyes to the endless possibilities my craft can open up for me. I was not only able t0 create anything my brain decided to come up with, but also found myself during a time of huge identity crises. Choosing art as my career was a huge no brainer.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a culmination of all the crazy and awesome cartoons I grew up admiring. Skate culture, street art and graffiti are also huge inspirations. My art is a crazy acid trip visual and a blend of my love for cartoons and fine arts. I’m proud of how far I’ve come but so excited for the rest of the journey. It wasn’t easy getting myself out there, especially growing up timid and shy, but the art community in South Florida has been nothing but encouraging and welcoming. So many lessons have been learned along the way, from networking to selling, and I’m extremely grateful to have experienced both highs and lows.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you were to come down to Miami you have to check out Little Havana. I grew up surrounded by so much culture everywhere, there’s no doubt it’s helped shape the mindset I carry today. Little Havana is a blend of Caribbean, Central and South American people. So much good food and music every corner you turn.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My craft is dedicated to those little kids from my 3rd grade class who told me I should go draw for nickelodeon. To my amazing parents who never took the crayons away from me. My siblings who showed off my artwork any chance they could and to my awesome network of friends who told me to keep going. Without that support I wouldn’t be where I am today.
