Meet Brandi Dittrich | Makeup Artist & Body Art Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandi Dittrich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandi, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Having Crystal Smith as a business partner was the best decision I could have made for Key West Body Designs. As a Key West local, she has the knowledge that I lack about living in Key West. As a talented body painter and makeup artist herself, she also has the knowledge of beauty products that work the best in the Key West heat.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Makeup Artist specializing in Airbrush Makeup, Airbrush Tanning, and Body Art based out of Pompano Beach, FL. I moved here from Tennessee 12 years ago and did not have a clue that body painting was even a thing. After learning how to body paint in makeup school, I did not think that I would have the opportunity to build this into my makeup career. However, my first job out of makeup school was getting body painted for an event at the Fountainebleau in Miami with the SyFy Network’s cast members from the TV Show, Face Off. I could not believe how fun it was and from that moment on I was like, “I’m totally making this a full time career!” I started working on movie sets and music videos and meeting other SFX Artists who also body painted. Slowly, this is how I formed our team of Artists with Key West Body Designs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite thing to do is to take our boat out. My husband and I love stopping at Cap’s Place for a beer and crab cake but my absolute favorite thing to do is head south and take our boat all the way to Key West. When we head south on the boat, my favorite stops are Alabama Jacks, Gilbert’s, Islamorada Fish Company, and Kiki’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Crystal Smith is my business partner with the Key West Body Designs Team, owner of Island Celebrity Photography, and one of my best friends. The Key West Body Designs Team would not exist without her.
