We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon & Charvon Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon & Charvon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our business began to create lasting memories for our family and children. We made a conscious effort to document our travels and adventures so that we could cherish them for years to come. Since Charvon was already a travel agent, it felt like the natural next step to turn our passion into a business. We aimed to showcase unconventional travel options to our family and friends and offer them a refreshing alternative to the mainstream travel industry. So, we started a YouTube Channel called Parkers On The Go in July of 2021 and haven’t looked back since.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our love for travel inspired us to create Parkers On The Go. In October 2016, we embarked on a cruise aboard the Carnival Victory, which opened our eyes to the endless possibilities of travel. We were so excited about the experience that we immediately started sharing stories with friends and family. We organized a group of first-time cruisers for two consecutive years. It was then that Charvon realized her passion for travel. She conducted thorough research and officially became a travel agent in June 2018.

Having a YouTube channel is a way for us to support Charvon’s travel agency and provide our customers with exciting and authentic content. We aimed to showcase the common mistakes that first-time travelers make and how to avoid them. We believe in being authentic and do not edit our videos to make travel look glamorous. We showcase our true selves and don’t shy away from being vulnerable. This is what sets us apart from other channels. Even if we have disagreements, we don’t cut the footage from our content. Instead, we make sure to include it. We love to say, “People still argue while on vacation.”

We are extremely proud of our weekly livestream named Talk To Me Thursday, which takes place every Thursday at 7 p.m. EST. During the live stream, we don’t limit our discussions to only travel-related subjects. We also talk about current events, trending topics, and personal experiences. The live stream is so popular that it often lasts for three hours, with the third hour being the most beloved by our audience. We call that hour “Parkers After Dark,” which runs from 9 pm to 10 pm. During this time, we open up the comment section for our viewers to discuss whatever they desire. It’s not uncommon for Charvon to burst into uncontrollable laughter and for Brandon to do his famous “Dino Hop” dance move.

We are currently hovering over 5,000 subscribers and are excited about the growth that our channel and business have experienced in under 2 years. Charvon has branched out to a podcast called “Cruise Kibitz” with her co-hosts, Shakeia “Keke” Reese of Team Reese Travels, and Cheryl “SIG Cruiser” Cooper. On the podcast, we discuss all things cruising and answer trending topics. Additionally, she has recently started a monthly Zoom meeting called the Content Creators Roundtable, where a group of aspiring and seasoned content creators come together to discuss how to start, grow, and become successful on all major social media platforms, not just on YouTube.

Brandon hosts a new and upcoming wrestling podcast called “The Kingz of Dysfunction” (The K.O.D. Show), along with Byrce “Just Bryce” Pauley and Isaiah “Big Hersh” Franklin. They discuss recent events and activities in W.W.E and A.E.W, as well as attend local shows and share content on Twitter and Instagram.

We have reached our current position through sheer hard work and dedication. It hasn’t been a walk in the park. We started with just one business, which has now expanded into multiple ventures, including group cruises and channel merchandise. There have been countless sleepless nights spent planning content, travel, receiving brand deals, and keeping up with the latest trends in the social media space. But we genuinely enjoy what we do.
We rely on each other for support, and we have a great support system in the friends we have made in the YouTube space. Without the late-night chats, phone calls with friends, and most importantly, the support of others, we would not be where we are today.

We have learned to stay consistent in creating, as nothing comes overnight. It’s important to be careful who you let in your circle, as some people come to take but not everyone adds value to your life’s purpose or drive and stays true to who you are. People like to see the authentic experience and not something that has been glamorized.

We want the world to know that the Parkers are just a couple who want to share who we are with the world. We are unfiltered and unapologetically Brandon and Charvon. Never did we think we would be where we are now. Brandon was voted Most Quiet in his class, and Charvon was the shy girl who used to take the long way to class to avoid the popular crowd. We are just us. We can’t believe our journey has brought us this far, and we can’t wait to see what else the world has in store for us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Visiting NC in itself can give you such a great variety of options. We are located in Raleigh, NC so we are 2 to 3 hours away from beaches. A day trip to Wilmington, NC, or Atlantic Beach, in Charvon’s hometown, for good and fresh seafood, scenic boat tours, and the lighthouse. Here in Raleigh, we are highly fond of an Adult arcade and bar Called Boxcar. You can play old-school video games and have a beer, hang out, and listen to live music or DJs. We have 3 colleges in the area so a football or basketball game is always the way to go. We also are home to the Carolina Hurricanes NHL team. So you can catch a hockey game or a concert at the local PNC arena. We have festivals and food truck rodeos monthly and we cannot forget about the food scene downtown North Carolina has so much to offer. The Pit Authentic BBQ is a must-stop for official NC BBQ. You’ll have an amazing time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to dedicate this message to two very special people: Rev. Jimmy Parker, the father of Brandon, and Ms. Vernadine Manneh, the mother of Charvon. These two individuals have been a constant source of support and encouragement in our business ventures. Their unwavering support has been instrumental in our success. They make sure we have everything we need to be successful and we are grateful for their presence in our lives.
