We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanne Pendleton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breanne, how do you think about risk?
When you first see the word risk, most people think of something dangerous or see an opportunity to pause and be alot more cautious. I must admit that I’ve been one of these people my whole life until about a year before I started my business. I avoided any type of risk! I wanted to be in complete control of every single avenue of my life. I did not want the headache or burden of having to deal with the consequences of making a “bad ” decision. Laughable, right? Interestingly enough, all that control I thought I had went right out the window with one decision. I joined a pageant!
To some, a pageant is not really all that risky but for me, it was one of the biggest risks of my life. Naturally, I’m intoverted and DO NOT like the stage or to be center of attention. But this pageant was different. It was a business pageant. Instead of being judged solely on my physical appearance, I was able to bring my business to the forefront and showcase it. It gave me a different opportunity to market myself and my brand to a completely different crowd and audience. I literally had to reach down inside myself, mute all the doubt and fear screaming out at me, and pull out those parts of myself that were ridiculously bold and fearless! I said about 1 million prayers in my preparation and fell outside my comfort zone to compete. Surprisingly for me, this ended up being the best decision I could have made for my business. I am now an international title holder and my business and my confidence in my abilities have grown leaps and bounds since then. In my opinion, risk doesn’t mean danger. To me, it gives new opportunities to stretch ourselves and find out what we are really capable of! Instead of coming up with all the reasons why taking a risk in your business or personal life wont work, try asking yourself, “Who do I need to become for this to work out in my favor?”
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely Wynwood, not only do you get to shop and eat at some amazing boutiques and restaurants, but you get a beautiful introduction to the culture of Miami. There is a mix of people from all races, backgrounds, and nationalities. Definitely a stop at Groovin Bean! This little corner cafe is a great place, Full of great vibes and good food!! Bacon Bitch in south beach is also a must!!. Rustic Inn is an must for grest seafood as well. Then I’d take a trip to The Standard. Every vacation should include luxury spa treatments and services. Dunkanoos is a great spot for island vibes and some great drinks as well. My idea of a great vacation is good food, music, new experiences and great vibes!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d have to say Celebrity Vocal Coach, Ashaala Shanae. She is my mentor and im so fortunate to have crossed paths with her. I met her at a time where I needed some guidance and direction. She not only took me under her wing and encourged me, she pushed me to become a version of myself I never knew i could be. She has poured so much of her wisdom and heart into my success, there really aren’t words to describe the appreciation I have for her. She goes far and beyond the call of a mentor and everyone that she invites in her circle is 100x better because of it!
