We had the good fortune of connecting with Brenda Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brenda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first got engaged one of the very first things a friend told me was ” whatever you do hire a coordinator” that stuck with me and I did just that. My coordinator was amazing, handled everything so I wouldn’t have to stress then once the wedding and the planning was over , everyone around me was getting married too. My best friend then my brother and I started helping them plan their special till one day I got home and told my parents ” I think I want to be a wedding planner” I thought I enjoy this so much and why not make money out of it? I am also very OCD and very organized, I love to- do list . I wanted to give my brides/ clients the same experience I had on my wedding day. I wanted to be their right hand on their wedding day , help them relief some of the stress that comes along with the wedding day and help their visions come to life.

What should our readers know about your business?
Events by BBG is a wedding planning firm , consisting of a team and will assist throughout your special day. We are certified Event and wedding planners . We offer Month of Coordination, Partial Wedding Planning and Full Wedding Planning packages. As a business owner, I am proud of a lot of things, the growth over the last couple of years, the knowledge I’ve acquired in the industry , and most importantly I would say I am proudest of the relationships I’ve built with clients. It takes a lot for someone to trust you with one of the biggest days of their lives so those relationships are so special. It definitely has not been easy, I work very very hard day in and day out to be better for myself , my business and my clients. I overcome challenges by learning , sometimes the best way to learn is to hit the brick wall and learn from the pain. The biggest lesson I’ve learned , I think is that, you’re not going to be the best to everyone but as long as you’re better than you used to be that’s all that matters. I want the world to know I’ve been in your shoes, I know what it is to plan a wedding from both sides as the planner and as the bride. I absolutely love what I do, it is a true passion for me and it truthfully makes me happy to see you happy on your wedding day plus seeing all our work come together. I want to be the person you come to with any wedding related questions/ issues and eventually I want you to tell your friends and your friend’s friend about your great experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many places I would love to take them, for sure the obvious given would be the beach , because it wouldn’t be very “I live where you vacation” of me without the beach , after the beach maybe lunch/dinner at Tap 42, just because I love the guac there. Next day would definitely take them to Super Blue because it’s artsie , then head to lunch/dinner at a restaurant on the Grove because Miami. The next day we’d definitely hit up the Artechouse just to continue the art series then dinner somewhere on the beach, since we’d be near by. The following days will consist of more beach days, Miami Seaquarium because Miami, Rusty Pelican, Metro Zoo , Miccosukee airboats and Wynwood.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The best thing you can have in life is a support system, I would not be where I am today without my parents, my brother, my sister in law and my friends. My parents, who are always willing to help me with a wedding or storage. My brother who is always willing to load up the car or show up at a wedding or event if he needs to. My sister in law or sissy, Ailyn who took on the extra job of Assistant without even realizing she wanted to and my friends who have also taken on the role of assistants.
