We had the good fortune of connecting with Brett Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brett, how do you think about risk?
Risks are needed to move forward in life and in business. Feeling comfortable is the worst thing that can happen because that means that growth has stopped.
Risks have allowed me to leave Texas to move to Florida in order to start my company in a better market.
I have also learned from my risks and my mistakes that have pushed me forward.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a licensed financial professional with Ladder Strategists. We help families make more money, save more money, cut down on debt and taxes, and building family legacies through trusts.
What sets us apart is most financial advisors only choose to work with families that are well off. What other office do you know has a client that is a few million off of being a billionaire to a single mother who is living on food stamps? We serve everyone and our mission statement is No Family Left Behind and we live by that everyday.
I got to where I am today from starting many businesses and seeing what worked and what didn’t. It was challenging but a great lesson. At the core of it, I knew I liked helping people, was tired of trying to sell a product they didn’t need, and wanted to provide for others through philanthropy.
I would like to leave everyone with this in this segment: you can become whoever you envision yourself being. It’s going to take time so be patient. If you are an entrepreneur some days will be harder than others but there is always light at the end of tunnel. Find your why is the biggest driver. For me, I want to give back to young entrepreneurs and invest in them so I can help with all the pain points I’ve went through. As well as I plan to start a charitable cancer foundation named after my father who passed away from cancer at a young age where when a family is diagnosed, they contact us and we handle everything has from finding a doctor to booking hotels for the families to visit.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here in Boynton Beach, I would first take them to Sushi Jo’s to get some of the best sushi they’ve ever had.
Driving down A1A to view all of the massive houses is second on the list. I view this an inspirational and would hope to inspire them in their business life.
I don’t know if you can tell but I hardly get out from working so much so I would love some input and suggestions from everyone on this haha!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, since Mother’s Day just happened I would like to thank my mother Sally for supporting my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. She has been my #1 supporter since I started my very first company at 19. She is also in business development so she definitely helps me professionally when she can.
Second I would like to thank Alexis Lakins of Ladder Strategist for taking me under her wing and showing me the ropes to the financial industry. Her kind nature has fuel my passion of helping families!
Lastly I would like to thank my grandparents for showing me how to live life and enjoy every moment. From building and designing any type of part you can imagine with my grandpa in his shop to cooking in the kitchen with my grandmother, they have definitely helped me become who I am.
