We had the good fortune of connecting with BRËZ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi BRËZ, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work-life balance has changed drastically over the last year and a half, because of my growing family. I’m now a husband and a father of two boys under the age of two. Life is extremely busy, and at times exhausting. To be a successful indie artist usually means learning the art of wearing multiple hats and working diligently for your brand to succeed. I’m very intentional with my brand. I journal and write down all of my action plans and goals. Whether big, small, ridiculous, etc, they all get written down. I revisit these goals frequently and go after them accordingly. But to be completely transparent, its been tough trying to balance artistry and raising a family. Both require much time, dedication and sacrifice. As a creator, my mind is almost always on create mode, so I’m still learning to be present in each moment— so I don’t miss out on the priceless “life” moments with my family. I think it’s a perfect storm though, because it keeps me grounded. But on the other hand, it also keeps me hungry and motivated.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
BRËZ is a brand that represents truth, love and peace. As a soul artist, I strive to create music that heals, reveals and helps people to grow into who they were created to be. Over the years I have been fortunate to build great relationships and collaborate on meaningful initiatives and projects. Being a creative and an indie artist is a vulnerable, risk-taking experience. You’re exposing your heart and mind to the world— all while attempting to understand the world around you. The driving force of my brand is LOVE. I’m a huge advocate for love and unity. The current climate of the world can be discouraging and traumatizing at times. But staying true to my faith and true to myself has helped me to remain steadfast— using this opportunity to spread love and light through my music.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d have to start our day with a morning workout! Either at the gym or on the beach. I live in West Palm Beach, so it would be blasphemous if I didn’t take them to the beach. We would grab breakfast at Benny’s on the Beach. Later on we could check out the Norton Art Museum. I’m a big wing connoisseur, so we’d have to grab lunch at my favorite Black Owned wing spot called Wing Diva. Downtown Delray has a lot of dope and chill dinner spots. We would have to end the night downtown to enjoy some live music or an event put on by FLAVARS.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my brothers Chrlii and MixedByPiph. They have been monumental in my journey as an artist, seeing my potential and encouraging me from day one.. I would also like to shoutout my mentor and great friend Antonio Boyd for believing in me, giving me great advice and support over the years.
