We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Ornelas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel like it’s important to take risk, you never know how far you can make it if you don’t take that step. My biggest risk take had to be dropping out of school and quitting my job to do videos full time, its been about a year and a half and I haven’t looked back since.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m nowhere near where I want to be. I recently just started my own collective of other artist just like me… Directors, editors, vfx artist ect… that’s what i’m most excited about and my main focus right now. I’ve been traveling shooting videos and just spreading the word, It’s not easy me and my team have been couch surfing but that’s part of the journey… I love it. This collective will be worldwide.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to spend time in walking around the design district its a cool little vibe that’s where i would take someone who’s visiting the city and afterwards go out to eat at this Mexican restaurant called “Bodega” my friend put me onto it good food and cheap as well… The burritos are good.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yeah I’d like to give credits to my good friends Winchoz and Micro those two are like brothers to me, a mentor in a way they guided me into the right direction and showed me how this industry works. When I started out doing music videos for the first time Winchoz would bring me out to his shoots to do PA work and would even let me co direct sometimes.
