We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to be my own boss. Society teaches us to fit a specific “mold” in order to be successful. Since a child my thought process has been noticeably different. With that being said ill always push for ownership!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other artists is my subject matter can vary from each song. You never know what sound that I’ll experiment with on any given song. I’m proud about my last release “Khemo” because its a dedication to my brother that passed away a few years ago and also showcases my new faith in God. It was not easy for me to get to where I am today. It took tremendous trial and error but I never let that stop me from chasing my goals. Throughout this journey I’ve learned to not overthink. This can cause us to become stagnant and not take risks. I’ve learned that without risks you will never know the outcome. I want the world to remember me as an artist that went against the social norm. I am a direct representation of God and I want that message to be heard worldwide.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to historic Ybor City in Tampa. Its literally endless things to do there!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, I would like to shoutout Anire Okene who is a blogger for musicunitesafrica.org. This guy is based in Nigeria and he gave me an opportunity that I’m forever grateful for. We met in 2015 and have been working ever since!
