We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Tellas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I know people think the saying “Nothing worth having comes easy”, but it’s a true statement. I’m happy I started my business, it makes me proud to know I had a vision and acted on it. Being a business owner or entrepreneur isn’t easy but, I believe the ups and downs you experience makes it worth it. I love anything beauty related so it wasn’t hard to figure out what kind of business I wanted to start. I continue in my journey as a business woman because I believe in myself and I know that all the blood, sweat and tears I put in will all be worth it. I keep going because I want to be an example for black women and little black girls who aren’t made to feel like a priority. I feel like if you’re passionate about what you do and put your heart and soul into it; you’ll be successful no matter how long it may take. If you don’t have the drive, patience, or follow through it may be easier to talk yourself into giving up. If at any point you lose the passion for what you do, or you start to get so overwhelmed that it starts to negatively affect you mentally, physically, emotionally; its ok to step away. If you’re not getting any joy out of what you do it’s ok to stop because you should be happy doing anything in life. Only you’ll know whether or not to keep going, just do what you feel is best.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think what may set my business apart is that it’s catered towards black women and men. I feel like there aren’t enough representation or products made for us. I’m most proud of what I’ve currently built my business up to as of today. It’s not where I want it to be but I’m heading in the right direction. I got where am by making some sacrifices in other areas of my life, by hard work and dedication, and being passionate about what I do. Being a business owner is very rewarding but it’s not easy, I do have some struggles like marketing and gaining traffic to my site, I know I’ll get better at it but it does affect my spirit at times. I just keep working and doing what I feel is right, and try to remember everything happens in it’s own time and not to put so much pressure on myself. I’ve learned that everyone’s journey is different, it may take longer for my business to reach the goal I set for myself. Also, it’s important to research your target of people you want to reach through your business or whatever it is you’re working at. I want the world to know Killer Bee Cosmetics that we are a force to be reckoned with, we’ll be making our mark worldwide so get ready!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not really sure what we’d do but eating is always a priority. I would probably take them to the Town Center because it’s a mixture of malls and different restaurants of a variety. If available I would take her to do Trap and Paint, which similar to sip and paint but the theme is trap music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, first and foremost I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent, vision, and creativity without him Killer Bee Cosmetics wouldn’t exist. I want to thank my mother who always inspires me and hypes me up. I also want to thank my family and friends who believe in me and support me. Lastly, I want to shout out anyone who’s ever purchased from, or shared a post, or my website, and liked any of my content.
