We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what do you attribute your success to?
My amazing clients. They are so supportive and come from a range of backgrounds. They appreciate my talents and advice. They also are gracious when I am not feeling my best and offer encouragement when I need it. They recommend my salon to their friends, family and co-workers. Dream Curls Studio is a success because of the wonderful people that I encounter every day.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Coming to Dream Curls Studio is a quiet and relaxing experience. I wanted to create a space where the guests are able to fully release all their stresses about their hair (and life!) and leave the appointment feeling refreshed. My focus is bringing out the best in their hair, easing “salon anxiety” and helping them create a routine at home to keep their hair in it’s best shape.

To become a Master Curl Specialist I had to really study haircutting techniques, research the best products for curls, and the best methods for styling every curl type. I began my career in 2012 doing natural hair styles, braiding and extensions. In 2020 I joined the Ouidad salon and became certified in their techniques and application. In 2022 i decided to create Dream Curls Studio, a safe space for clients and their hair. In my many years of being a hairstylist, I’ve come to realize that many clients have a lot of hair trauma from getting bad haircuts or color. My goal was always to help reverse that trauma by giving clients an amazing salon experience and amazing healthy hair.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places to hang out is the new Marina Village on Fort Lauderdale Beach. They have such a great variety of food and drinks, the burgers and tacos are amazing! They also have a great happy hour selection.

Another place, I love to hang out is the Hard Rock hotel. There are so many restaurants there and the pool area is so nice. My boyfriend and I go there at least once a month.

If you love indian food, Moksha Indian Brasserie is definitely a staple in the Fort Lauderdale community. The vegetarian menu is huge and it’s my favorite even though I’m not 100% vegetarian! Another restaurant that I go to often is Cooper’s Hawk. The wine tasting is a fun experience and the food is always delicious. Hollywood is also full of restaurants and bars, that is my go-to neighborhood for bar-hopping.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course, I want to dedicate my shout out to my parents and sister first and foremost! They’ve been with me from the start of my career and have always been very encouraging for me to pursue my creative endeavors. Secondly, I would like to shout out my amazing partner. He really helped me jumpstart Dream Curls Studio; he built my chairs, put up my sign and so much more. Without my family and my partner I am not sure where I would be!
